Hey everyone, I had a major issue with my contact form hosted by Elfsight so I want to warn other form users.
I have my business contact form setup to forward submissions to my email address, but somehow there was an internal “spam” issue according to Elfsight and all forms stopped being sent to my email. They didn’t go to my spam folder, they just stopped arriving completely.
The result is that I missed 25+ potential clients trying to contact me and I didn’t realize until I looked at the form submissions on the spreadsheet.
So double check your forms and make sure that they’re working if you have them sent to your email address…
We completely understand your frustration and how much this situation has affected your business. We’re genuinely sorry about that!
I see that my colleague Serj has already responded to your last message in a support ticket and shared the details of the whole situation.
As he mentioned, the issue comes from using the Autoresponder feature in the widget, which sends an automatic email to your clients when they submit a form:
Unfortunately, some recipients have marked those emails as spam. When this happens often enough, the system flags the widget that sent the emails and blocks it.
This happens automatically as a protective measure against misuse, like spam or bot activity. While it’s meant to prevent issues for everyone, it can have unintended effects, especially in cases like yours.
We’d like to assure you that this is a very rare case, and we deeply apologize that this has led to losing clients
To avoid further issues, we recommend disabling the Autoresponder feature. Additionally, the integrations you’ve already set up with Zapier and Google Sheets are an excellent way to ensure that all form submissions are properly captured, minimizing any risks.
If you have any questions or additional feedback, feel free to contact Serj. He’ll be happy to assist!
