This doesn’t seem to work for me. When i have the open link in new tab selected it opens in a new tab, but when i unselect it clicking the button doesn’T do anything.
Hi there, @Milton_Penflick and welcome to the Community
Could you please send me a link to the page where your widget is installed? I’ll be happy to check things for you
Hi Max, thanks for getting back to me.
There are now a couple of problems which i can’T seem to work out.
- If i have the pop up activated it pops up right at the top of the screen, which is very confusing when i have 20 events on there as you cannot see it if you click on an event a little further down on the page.
- i thought i’d do a work around and set the button to open a separate page where the info would be, but this only seem to work if i set it to open in a new tab
- the scroll bars, especially on mobile view.
Would be very good if you can help me out. I am at a loss, and have now spent most of the evening doing a manual events page, but of course it doesn’t anywhere near as good as the widget, but if i can’T fix these problems i have no option but to ask for a refund and just do everything manually.
Here is the link to the page with the elfsight script on it: Veranstaltungen
I have also given permission to the elfsight email to login and have a look on the backend if necessary
Many thanks
And i know where the button is to stop it from opening in a new tab, but when i activate it the button doesn’t do anything on my page
I am assuming it is a google sites problem, after hours of looking around online
Hi there, @Milton_Penflick
Apologies for the delayed response!
Yes, you’re right. Due to the peculiarities of Google Sites platform, all widget elements are being converted into iframe format, which causes incorrect displaying (and scroll appearing).
Iframe calculates the height of the block on mobile based on its size on the desktop. So, to make the widget look good on mobile, you need to stretch the widget in its height on the desktop.
I need to say that an empty space might appear on the desktop below the widget, but it is the only workaround we can suggest in this case.
Issues with the Open in the Same tab feature and popup display are also caused by Google Sites iframes.
I am not sure if anything can be done with it, but I’ll discuss it with the devs and update you once I hear back from them!
Hi Max, no problem, thank you for looking into it.
It is exactly what i thought, i did a whole lot of research before asking the question on here. I was just hoping that maybe i had missed something.
I tried the thing with making the box bigger, but inorder for 20+ events to show without scrollbox was just not viable.
I would suggest that the team look into putting an asterix on the “google sites” in supported platforms, with an explanation of these (and any other) problems that could occure when using google sites.
I have now done everything manually instead and asked for a refund from Elfsight.
Many thanks
Milton
I’ve talked to the devs and, unfortunately, there’s nothing can be done with the popup and Open in the Same tab issues, as the problem lies in the peculiarities of the Google Sites platform. I am so sorry for all the inconvenience caused
As for your suggestion, this sounds reasonable and I’ve shared it with the team. Thank you so much for your feedback!
