Event Cal widget area is too small and doesn't scroll

I’m helping out a non-profit with no budget, thus using Google Sites. I’m using the code embed. When viewing on mobile, I can only see 2 events in list view, and not even the full calendar in month view. I also only get a few letters of the event when in the month view, so it’s not useable. Is this a Google Sites issue, or can I use some CSS to fix?

Hi @user5194, happy to see you on the forum! :wave:t2:

Hmm, I know that Google Sites is not compatible with popup and floating elements, but our Event Calendar is a static widget (until you open a popup to see the details), so it should appear correctly if not calling up a popup.

Can you please send me the link to the page with the widget in question? I’ll be happy to check things on my end

Hi Helga,

Thanks for your help.

Hi Kirsten, thank you for the links!

I’ve tried to open them, but it seems the website is not published yet so I could not see it, unfortunately. But I’ve discussed your use case with the team, and given that you’re using Google Sites, this is what I can tell:

Due to the peculiarities of Google Sites platform, all elements of applications get converted into iframe format, which causes incorrect displaying.

Iframe calculates the height of the block on mobile based on its size on the desktop. So, to make the widget look good on mobile, you need to stretch the widget in its height on the desktop.

I also need to mention that an empty space might appear on the desktop below the widget, but I’m afraid it is the only workaround I can suggest in this case, I’m really sorry :frowning:

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I’ll try my best to help

Thanks for so quickly getting back to me Helga. So weird, because I pressed publish in Google Sites. It’s new to me, so I’ll look into that. Sounds like it doesn’t matter though, as your team’s explanation sounds like what I’m experiencing. Thank you for the insight. I had previously tried stretching the widget, but it wasn’t enough unfortunately. I’ll keep the widget, and your other offerings in mind for future projects Helga. Thanks again.

Kind Regards,
Kirsten

Kirsten, thank you so much for your kind reply! It’s a pity that our solution didn’t actually work, but I’m glad that you loved working with our widgets

If any other help is ever needed, we’re always here for you, so don’t hesitate to ask questions!

A final thought. You may want to remove Google Sites as a supported platform off the Calendar https://elfsight.com/integrations/google-calendar-integrations/ and every other product that uses an iFrame; or even better, explicitly say that it is not supported. It would save people a lot of time.

Cheers,
Kirsten

Great note, Kirsten, thank you for sharing! I’ve passed it on to the team so that they think about these pages’ improvement.

Many thanks for your help!
