Security Concern | Action Requested | AI Chatbot Email Footer

Howdy!

We have “Email Notifications” enabled in our chatbot configurator. Every email we receive from Elfsight contains the footer:

Footer in Text Format:

This is an automated notification email from your Elfsight AI Chatbot
widget. You can edit notification settings [3] for this email in your
dashboard.

Links:

[3] https://dash.elfsight.com/widget/[customer-widget-code-number]

Footer in HTML Format:

This is an automated notification email from your Elfsight AI Chatbot widget. You can edit notification settings for this email in your dashboard.

The footer reveals the customer’s widget login page which our team considers sensitive information and could lead to login exploits.

Since many of our customers (i.e., visitors) request a copy of the chatbot conversation (i.e., transcript) via email, I would like to request that Team Elfsight implement as soon as possible the changes noted in the below images so that our customers or visitors do not receive the sensitive information. Editing the email at our end (for each transcript request we receive), can be time consuming or lead to errors.

Your prompt attention to my request is deeply appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi there, @Petar_Dietrich :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I completely get your case and I am really sorry there is no way to exclude a footer from email notifications.

We do have plans to explore this possibility in Q2 this year. As soon as any news comes up, we’ll promptly update you in this thread - Ai chatbot Chat History to Email (white label)

Hey @Max,

Did you have a chance to consult your developers and management team about this topic?

The new footer text (as recommended above) will eliminate the potential for unauthorized access to your customers’ widget accounts.

Cheerio!

While the footer text contains a link to your widget, other users won’t be able to access it since it requires login credentials to your Elfsight account. You can test in incognito mode or in a browser, where you’re not logged in to your Elfsight account.

At the same time, I totally get your case and agree that it would be awesome to edit/remove the footer text. We’ve previously discussed this idea with the devs and they do have plans to investigate this task in Q2 this year. We’ll keep you posted on any changes in the Wishlist thread.
