AI Chatbot: Send chat history from a custom domain

We’re thrilled to introduce the opportunity to send emails with chat transcripts from a custom domain in the AI Chatbot app :rocket:

To enable this feature, please follow these steps:

Open Email Notifications on the Settings tab and add Email Sender

Enter your SMTP server details

All emails from the forms, including the Autoresponder, will be sent through this server:

After entering the details, the system will automatically check the connection. If the check is successful, the settings will be saved.

Voila! Emails will now be sent through your personal SMTP server :slightly_smiling_face:

Guys, have you tested the new feature? Share your experience in the comments - we’d love to hear from you

I’m a bit confused. Can you provide an example or two explaining the usefulness of the new feature vs “Send Chat History to Email”?

Also, how does Elfsight handle the login credentials entered via the new feature? (i.e., privacy protection).

Thank you!

By default, Elfsight (notifications@forms.elfsightmail.com) is displayed as the chat transcript sender.

With the SMTP feature, you can replace notifications@forms.elfsightmail.com with your custom domain, which makes the emails more branded and personalized.

Regarding the privacy, all the details are stored on the protected servers’ disks. This data is encrypted and we don’t use or process it in any way or form :slightly_smiling_face:

Great explanation. Thank you!

Update: Works beautifully! Cheers. :clinking_glasses:

The custom domain for sending the transcript works great Max!
One question:
In the footer of the emails containing transcripts that you receive, there is still a reference to Elfsight (see image). It would be great if this could be adjusted so that there is no longer any reference to Elfsight or the dashboard. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi there, @Ron_Langenbach :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Yep, an option to disable the footer in the emails will be a final step to complete this request.

We do have plans to look into this in Q2 of this year. As soon as we have more news, we’ll update you on the Wishlist thread :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for adding the custom domain for sending transcripts. However, since the footer of the transcript emails references Elfsight or the dashboard, it doesn’t make much sense in this context. For now, I’ll continue using my Google Apps Script to clean and forward the emails.

Hey there, @Justworks :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I understand your decision and I am really sorry there is no way to disable the footer now. Hopefully the devs will be able to consider this idea as soon as possible.

We’ll keep you updated in this thread :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, I agree it seems as if the only thing this does is change the email address it is delivered to and does’t say sent from elfsight, my least favorite part is that it shows the elf.site url right at the top of the email along with the footer so to me it completely defeats the purpose. I would like to be able to send to client the transcript without sharing the platform.

Hey there, @Shawn_Martin1 :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I completely get your point regarding a white-label footer and we’ll try to implement it in the future.

As for the elf.site, it’s a part of the widget Share Link format. It shows up in the email if you/your clients were chatting through the Share Link.

If the chat took place on your website, you’ll see your website page in the transcript :slightly_smiling_face:

Ok, the but that is the link I use for the chat in an iframe. I don’t use the widget script.

Ah, I see. Since the Share Link is a part of an iframe, the same logic works here :slightly_smiling_face:

Sorry not following, so the elf.site link should appear in the chat or the website page link should appear in the chat?

The “Chat Page URL” in the email transcript shows the exact page where the chat took place.

  • If the chat is installed on the website using the standard method (without iframes), the URL of the page where the chat was installed will be shown.
  • If the chat happened via a Share Link, the Share Link URL for your widget will appear in the “Chat Page URL” field.
  • If the widget is installed in an iframe, the page URL won’t appear in the transcript. Instead, the iframe URL will be displayed, which is the expected behavior and cannot be changed.

Please let me know if this clears things up or if you have any questions left :slightly_smiling_face:
