Info about char limits

I understand that the chars storage limit are shared across all chatbots created under the same app.

However if a user like myself has 9 AI chat bots, with different sources, and have reached our MAX CHARS, how can I know how much to delete, without having to delete multiple text blocks, page links, faqs.

It would be great to see where you stand at least, otherwise users will not know how much to delete.

For example on one AI chat, I deleted 2 files, that were 10,000,000 CHARS, however after deleting, I was unable to add any new text blocks.

The time it takes for one to delete, try, delete try, would be better solved it would show a live count.

Hopefully Elfisght Staff can show me how much more to delete.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, @123 :waving_hand:

Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback!

I completely agree that tracking the char limit in the dashboard would be super helpful, and I’m happy to let you know that this idea is already on our Wishlist. You can upvote it here: Display Remaining Chars.

We’ll try to consider this request in the future, especially if it gets more votes.

Regarding the issue you mentioned—deleting files that were 10,000,000 characters but still being unable to add new text blocks—here’s what’s going on:

With your current plan, you have a total of 60,000,000 chars available across all widgets. However, the total character count across all your chatbots now is 64,500,912, which exceeds that limit. This happened because, before the limit was introduced, you could upload files up to 100 MB (which is over 100,000,000 characters). We had to set new limits, but any files uploaded before this change were retained, which is why your current usage is over the plan’s limit.

To add new files, questions, or text blocks, you’ll need to bring your total character count below the 60,000,000 limit.

I hope this clears things up.

If you’d like to know the char stats for a specific chatbot, just let me know the widget’s name, and I’d be happy to check it for you :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for your response. I have upvoted this, but as you will read below, its not a matter of voting to deploy, its a matter of company transparency especially if you are operating in EU countries.

Thank you for letting me know that I’m 4 million CHARS over. This is useful, but without knowing the CHARS users wont know how much to delete.

Yes users need this 100% to be able to see, especially if they have multiple widgets.
From my understanding of another previous post, in your database, you can see the CHARS used. So this should be simple enough to be added to users dashboard.

If some users are using this like we are on the Pro Plan on different websites, it is impossible now for us to see how many CHARS are used/left.

Like now, we are stuck, not sure how much to delete, and can’t add.

The only option is to upgrade to Premium, but what if all i needed to do was to delete 3 or 4 FAQ’s to bring my CHARS down, i would do that instead of upgrading to a double cost Premium plan.

I know it may be challenging, but otherwise its a bit sketchy for users not to know, and giving them the only option is upgrading.

We really appreciate your feedback - thanks a lot for such a thoughtful comment!

I totally get your feelings and agree that keeping users informed about the current limits is crucial, and this feature would certainly enhance transparency.

We had originally planned to include it in the first release, but integrating these stats into the dashboard proved to be more complicated than anticipated (despite the fact the info about char usage is available in the database).

To give you more insight, this feature requires careful planning, extensive testing, and multiple technical steps to ensure everything works smoothly. To avoid delaying the launch of the AI Chatbot widget, we decided to leave it out of the initial release.

I hope this explains things.

Please know that this feature hasn’t been abandoned. It’s still on our radar, and we plan to look into it for a future update. We’ll be sure to share any updates as soon as we have them :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your patience and apologies for all the inconvenience caused :folded_hands:
