Comment Widget

When using the comment widget, will I be known as the owner, and will I be able to delete other people’s replies? Continuing on this, will I have to sign in on the widget through my website in order for me to be known as the owner and to delete other people’s replies? And is there a way to sign in by email on the widget through my website? Or will it automatically sign in to the account that the elfsight website is logged onto? Additionally, is there an auto system that detects content/comments that shouldn’t be there?

Hey @Prarnisham_Gangwani, welcome to the Community :waving_hand:

Let me answer all your questions one-by-one:

Will I be known as the owner?
Yes, surely! You’ll need to log in through the widget (via Google or Facebook) to be recognized as the owner.

Will I be able to delete other people’s replies?
Yes, you can delete replies from the widget editor directly by clicking on the dots near the comment:

Will I have to sign in on the widget through my website in order to be known as the owner and to delete other people’s replies?
Yes, you’ll need to log in through Google or Facebook on the website to manage replies there directly.

But please note that, if the email address in your Elfsight account is different from the one you used to log in, you won’t be recognised as an admin. In this case, you’ll be able to manage comments from your Elfsight dashboard :raising_hands:

Is there a way to sign in by email on the widget through my website? Or will it automatically sign in to the account that the Elfsight website is logged onto?
Currently, login via email isn’t supported in the app – you can login using Google or Facebook.

If you’re logged into Google or Facebook on your browser, the widget will use that account. If not, a login window will appear.

Is there an auto system that detects content/comments that shouldn’t be there?
At this time there’s no automatic system to detect unwanted comments, but you can set up notifications about new replies and manually delete them to get rid of unwanted ones.

I hope I managed to clarify things for you! Let me know if you have any remaining questions

HI (This is the same person- I just couldn’t access that account at the moment).

So if I’m logged onto Elfsight on the web, will it automatically sign me in on the widget and let me delete other’s comments, or would I manually sign into the widget?

And could you implement a feature to sign in with email rather than google? And everyone would get to see the comment anyone makes right?

Hi @user30554!

Let’s go through these questions :flexed_biceps:

If I’m logged onto Elfsight on the web, will it automatically sign me in on the widget and let me delete other’s comments, or would I manually sign into the widget?
To be able to delete comments, you’ll need to log into the widget manually first.

Could you implement a feature to sign in with email rather than google?
Thanks for the suggestion! Adding email sign-in could be useful for some clients, but from a technical perspective it’s quite complex, and at the moment we’re not planning to implement it.

I’ll definitely pass your idea along, though :raising_hands:

Everyone would get to see the comment anyone makes right?
Yes, you’re absolutely right! If the comment wasn’t deleted by an admin at any point, every visitor of the page with the widget will see all the comments left previously.

Hoping that I brought you some clarity. But get back with other questions if you have any more :slightly_smiling_face:
