Text-to-Speech feature (Listen to This Article Button)

It would be great to have a Text-to-Speech widget that converts blog posts or webpage content into hyper-realistic speech (like ElevenLabs or Google WaveNet). The widget would place a “:headphone: Listen to this article” button at the top of blog posts so users can listen instead of read.

Features:

  • Automatically detects and reads the main blog content.
  • Uses high-quality, natural-sounding AI voices.
  • Customisable play button placement (e.g. top of the blog).
  • Supports multiple languages and accents.
  • Optional autoplay or manual play.
  • Lightweight and doesn’t affect page speed.
  • Basic analytics (e.g. play count, listen time).

Why it’s useful:

  • Great for accessibility (visually impaired users, dyslexia, etc.).
  • Appeals to users who prefer audio (e.g. listening while driving).
  • Increases time on page and engagement.

Would love to see this added – especially as TTS tech is becoming more common on media sites!

Hi there, @Neil_Fossett and welcome aboard :waving_hand:

Sounds interesting, thanks for this idea! Let’s see if it catches on with the community :slightly_smiling_face:

This is an excellent feature that we would implement immediately. Our site has a seniors/retirees focus and text is sometimes difficult for them to manage.

Our site is seniors focused and we are trying to implement this specific feature

Hi there, @user37004 :waving_hand:

Got your point, we’ll try to think about adding this feature, especially if this request becomes popular.

Thanks for upvoting the idea and yes, welcome to the Community
