This one issue is a constant thorn in our sides (not just with you but with all calendars). We have classes that run weekly, but almost all months have a holiday that requires a skip. Then we are jumping through all sorts of hoops to make the calendar be correct.
Thanks a lot for sharing, @Jim_Benson, and welcome to the community!
I completely understand your frustration, and Iām really sorry that our Event Calendar widget doesnāt currently support exceptions. I know our developers have explored several approaches to this request but have run into technical challenges they havenāt been able to resolve yet.
This feature is definitely on their radar, but unfortunately, we donāt have any updates at the moment Iāll be happy to post here as soon as thereās any progress
Thank you very much for your patience and support!
We have got a couple of events which run every week except in school holidays. Could an option be added to pause an event for a set time, or between two dates?
Greetings and welcome aboard, @user18754
Right now, itās impossible to do this, but we already have such a request on the Wishlist. Iāve merged your comment with the existing thread, where weāll keep you in the loop
We offer events and use the recurring feature quite a bit.
For example, event every Saturday night, so we set up one to months at a time.
Occasionally, we have to cancel an event on a Saturday night due to instructor off or something else. For example, we set up the event every Saturday in March of 2025 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th. In this case, the instructor is out for the 15th and we need to cancel that class just for that day. We would like to a way to cancel just that date.
Eventbrite handles this. They bring up the calendar for March and we select march 15th, and delete that date. The 1,8, 22 and 29th remain.
Would make setting up the calendar easier.
Something else that would make it easier is if we could see the begin date on the calendar editor on the left side easier. Since we have to repeat the same event, seeing the start dates would really help.
Hi there, @David_Gasper
Many thanks for sharing your use case with us!
At the moment, itās impossible to set exceptions for the recurring events, but this idea is already on the Wishlist. Iāve merged your comment with this request, where weāll keep you in the loop
I would find it difficult to believe you have had any one suggestion/request from users that has more interest from your paying clients than this one. Yet 3 years later, you continue to tell us āthis idea ia already on the Wishlist.ā Do we need to find a genieās lamp and get rubbing? Is this request so complicated that your tech crew keep pushing it down the āWishlistā to avoid working on it? Surely there are ample examples of other calendars that have always allowed exceptions. Whatās the deal? Will you be honest with us?
Thank you for your comment, @John_Mixon!
I totally get your concern, and Iām really sorry that we havenāt released this feature yet. Iāve just discussed it with the devs, and, unfortunately, there are other issues we need to sort out before we can work on the repetition exceptions.
While it might seem simple, integrating this featureās logic into the widgetās configurator, while keeping everything compatible, is trickier than it looks. Rest assured, this request isnāt forgotten, and weāll post an update here as soon as we have news.
Thank you for your feedback!
