Pop up Widget Notify Respondants Email HELP

Hi I am new to elf sight and very stuck with trying to get my discount pop up code working. I don’t have any tech knowledge, but have followed all instructions & watched the video.

The issue is that that I don’t know how to set up my ‘Email server using SMTP’

I have filled out the ‘notify respondents email’, but all that comes through when I click ‘submit’ and test the pop up, is a ‘new form submission to my email’ (Spam folder), but no email with the discount code (which should be sent to the person clicking the ‘submit’). I have used a test email address.

Does this make sense, I really hope someone can help as I am close to giving up! Here is a link to the widget. It would be absolutely amazing if I could get it to work  Please help my poor tired brain to figure this out

Hi there, @Grainne1 and welcome to the Community :waving_hand:

I’ve just tested your widget and the email was successfully delivered to the submitted email address:

Could you please test it out once again and let me know if the issue still persists?

As for the SMTP feature, you’re going to use the Yahoo email as the Email Sender. If so, you should follow these steps:

  1. Open the Form element’s settings and select Email Notifications:

  1. Go to the Email Sender Settings and click Add Email Sender:slight_smile:

  1. Now you should fill in the form to set up the connection:

Email Address - Enter the email address you’re going to use as a sender

SMTP Host - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (if you’re going to use Yahoo email)

Username and Password - Enter your Yahoo mail address and password

Please test it out and let me know if it worked

Thanks so much for all of the info, this is super helpful. I have followed the steps, and I can see it is working now. It is going into Spam mail though? I’m not sure if that is standard.

I will see if I can get the SMTP up and working now, I just have to figure out how to get back in to my email, as they have locked me out when I was trying to retrieve my password :frowning:

This is great though, thankyou, appreciate the advice. I will get there in the end!

Yep, the submissions might end up in the Spam folder. Please try to mark the email with the submission as not Spam. It should resolve the issue :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, setting up the SMTP connection should prevent emails from going to Spam.

Hello, Thanks again for the instructions. I have followed them, but it still unfortunately isnt working. I am unsure if I enter my email in the SMPT adress? Maybe I’m doing that part wrong. Here is a link to the page, any advice greatly appreciated. https://dash.elfsight.com/widget/12b65503-aa2c-4e90-b3ab-a47988b9a603

You should your email address to the Email Address and Username fields:

To the SMTP Host field you should add this email - smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

If you completed all steps, but the issue still persists, please open the Dev Console, click on the Save and Test Connection button in the SMTP settings and take a screenshot of what you see in the Dev Console :folded_hands:

Thank you!

The error from your screenshot appears when the entered data is incorrect. Please double-check the data you’re adding to the widget:

Email Address - your Yahoo email address

SMTP Host - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (if you’re going to use Yahoo email)

SMTP Post - 587

Encryption - TLS

Username - your Yahoo email address (the same as in the Email Address field)

Password - password from your Yahoo account/inbox

To make sure your data is correct, please try to log in to your Yahoo account using your email and password.

If you’re sure the data is accurate, please open the Network tab, click on the smtp error you see and take a screenshot of the error text from the Preview section:

Select Fetch/XHR tab:

After that click Save and Test Connection in the SMTP window:

After that you’ll see the SMTP error. Click on it and you’ll see the Preview tab. Take its screenshot, copy the whole text of the error and send it to me:

Please try to disable this popup blocker. If the issue still persists, please record a video screencast when opening the SMTP error on the Network tab :folded_hands:

Hi there, @Grainne1 :waving_hand:

In the videoscreencase, you should:

  1. Add all data to set up Email Sender

  2. Righ-click and select Inspect

  3. Choose Network tab and then Fetch/XHR

  4. Click on the Save and Test Connection button

  5. After that you’ll see the SMTP error. Click on it and take a screenshot of the error you see. After that, copy a full error text from the Preview field and send it here.

Here is a video screencast showing the steps you need to complete:

Just to clarify, I’ve just entered a random password, so that the issue could be replicated.

Thanks for the step by step instructions. The problem is I get as far as Fetch/XHR.

I cant save and test connection because there is no option to do that on my screen now, its just an image of the discount code.

Ah, you’ve got a narrow screen, that why the mobile view is applied on your device! To open the Email Sender settings, click on the Builder tab:

Then open the Form settings → Email NotificationsEmail Sender settings

After that fill in the all fields with the required data, open the Network tab, click Save and Test connection, take a screenshot of the SMTP error from the Network tab and send me a full error text:
