is something wrong with the Instagram widget today? They don’t work on my sites?
Hi there, @Hanna_Meinhardsdotti
The thing is that recently Meta deprecated API for connecting Personal Accounts and the Personal Account type of connection isn’t supported in our app anymore. You can find more details in this post.
In the meantime, I’ve switched the connection to Public Accounts & Hashtags and everything is working fine now. You can also use the Business Account connection as an option.
Let me know if this clarifies things or if you have any questions left
Thank you so much for you answer!
But what shall I do?
What do you mean with this: " I’ve switched the connection to Public Accounts & Hashtags and everything is working fine now. "?
Public Accounts? I have a private profile on Facebook of course. But under my private profile I have many business profiles (or Pages as they are called). And I use these Pages in my widgets with Elfsight.
But So? What should I do? I don’t really understand what you mean??
Do you have any video where you explain that “switched the connection to Public Accounts”?
Apologies for being not clear enough!
Previously, there were 3 types of connection supported in the widget:
-
Public Accounts & Hashtags
-
Business Account
-
Personal Account
After the recent changes on Meta’s side, Personal Account type of connection (which you were using) has been deprecated. However, the first 2 types of connection are still available.
Also, I’d like to note that the Source Type tab looks slightly different now.
Public (Accounts and Hashtags) type of connection
By default, the widget offers you to choose between these two source types: Instagram Account and a specific Hashtag. This is a Public (Accounts & Hashtags) type of connection I’ve chosen for you when reconnecting the widget to make it work:
Public (Account and Hashtag)connection types only support public accounts. So, if your profile is not private and has no access restrictions (e.g., age or country), you can continue using it.
Business Connection
Besides the Public (Accounts and Hashtags) source type, our Instagram Feed also allows you to connect through account authorization with a Business source type.
Thus, if your Instagram account is a Business or Creator type, and it’s properly linked to Facebook, you can use this connection instead:
This article provides a step-by-step guide for setting up each type of connection. Feel free to check it out

And I have 2 Instagram feed. Also this: https://www.karisvensson-art.fo/
I have tried to work it out in Elfsight, but I can’t figure it out?
This is a screenshot of the Instagram Feed widget’s settings. You can find your widget in your Elfsight dashboard - https://dash.elfsight.com/
Yes, but what shall I do there? Sorry I can’t find out how to do this? - I am so sorry
I am soooo greatfull you will help me!!
On this page, you have a 3rd-party widget (Lightwidget), but not Elfsight Instagram Feed:
Could you please send me a link to the page with the 2nd Instagram where the issue occurs?
I have got this from Elfsight? So I don’t know what you mean???
Here is the other one: https://www.christmaschild.fo/
But dear @Max - What shall I do to get it works again?
You don’t have any Elfsight widgets installed on these pages. As you can see from the screenshot, it’s Lightwidget:
I totally understand your frustration, but there’s nothing we can do with it.
We recommend you contacting the Lightwidget support. Hopefully, they’ll be able to find a solution for you!
