Hi there, @Mark_Farnsworth

I am sorry to say, but autoplay won’t work on Google Sites platform due to the autoplay policy of the browsers :pensive:

The thing is that autoplay won’t work until a user interacts with the browser, domain, or widget. And since the Google Sites platform is built on iframes, you need to click on the widget to play the audio.

Let me know if this clarifies things or if you have any questions left.

I hope it’s okay that I bring back this topic. I have an update regarding a bug to this issue. That’s why.

Even though I understand that browsers have a particular policy, and I respect that, there does seem to be an autoplay issue when the option “Save Playing Track and Progress” is checked off. If it’s not, then the widget autoplays, but the playlist starts over when navigating to a different page. But if that option is checked off, then the player does not autoplay, but does continue when navigating to different pages.

So I think this might be more than a browser issue personally. Please let me know what you think.

Hi there, @Prevalent_Arts :waving_hand:

Could you please send me a link to the page, where your widget is installed? I’ll be happy to look into this :slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately my website is not published yet, since I am still working on it. And it appears that I made a mistake. What triggers the autoplay to initiate on my end is to navigate to a different page after the widget has been updated.

I cannot link you, but let me know if you would like me to share a video recording.

Yep, a video screencast would be much appreciated :folded_hands:

Here you are then. Here is a video link.

That was by far the best screencast I’ve gotten! It totally made my day, seriously! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

As for the autoplay triggering when switching pages, that’s the expected behavior. However, I didn’t notice the Autoplay widget’s behavior with the “Save Playing Track and Progress” setting in your video, and I wasn’t able to replicate it on my end.

If the issue is still happening, could you show in a new screencast how Autoplay works with that setting enabled and how it behaves when it’s disabled?

Oh why thank you so much. I’m glad you really like it.

Here is a second recording that explains more. Parts of the beginning of the screencast got cut out, but I think I figured out the issue.

Got it, thanks!

With the Save Playing Track and Progress feature enabled, it’s a correct behavior that a track starts playing again from the same point where it was paused.

I hope this explains things.

Thank you. Yes, I understand that, but I did not originally understand that the option saves the pause, and waits for you to play again after revisiting. The autoplay does not reset in that case, and that is what I misunderstood.
