Cookie consent with actual cookie blocker on decline

The current cookie consent widget is just a notification, but it would be great to have it actual block cookies when declined, instead of having to use a third party plugin for this functionality.

Greetings @Pascale

I am afraid, it’s quite a tall order at the moment. However, we understand that this functionality would bring much value to our app. Hope our devs will pay attention to this idea in our future updates. I’ll be posting here in case of any news :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks a lot for pointing us in this direction and welcome to Community!

Is Cookie consent 2.0 coming tot the elfsight website

Hi there and welcome to Elfsight family

At the moment, we have a Cookie Consent app. However, it serves a function of notification and it actually doesn’t add, enable or disable cookies.

We already have a request for an app that actually disables cookies and I’ve moved your comment there too. I’ll keep you in the loop :slightly_smiling_face:

A huge thank you for you input, it’s much appreciated!

Hello

I use tarteaucitron. io to manage cookies from all website i create to be RGPD compliant.

When a user refuse cookies, there no message that’s encourage user to accept them… just the place stay blank. When user refuse cookies from youtube for exemple, a message is displayed instead the video.

I think that’s interresting for all widget… is it possible ?

Thanks you

Yeah, I complete understand your point and we already have a similar idea in the Wishlist. I’ve moved your comment to the related thread, where we’ll post all the updates :slightly_smiling_face:

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

Laut der DSGVO (Datenschutz-Grundverordnung) und der TTDSG (Telekommunikation-Telemedien-Datenschutz-Gesetz) in Deutschland reicht ein einfaches „Akzeptieren“ oder „Ablehnen“ nicht aus. Du musst die Cookies in Kategorien aufschlüsseln.

Erforderliche Elemente eines Cookie-Banners:

  1. Kategorisierung der Cookies:
  • Essentielle/technisch notwendige Cookies (dĂĽrfen ohne Einwilligung gesetzt werden).
  • Funktionale Cookies (z. B. fĂĽr Komfortfunktionen wie Spracheinstellungen).
  • Analyse-/Tracking-Cookies (z. B. Google Analytics).
  • Marketing-/Werbe-Cookies (z. B. Retargeting durch Facebook Pixel).
  1. Individuelle Zustimmung ermöglichen
  • Nutzer mĂĽssen fĂĽr jede Kategorie einzeln einwilligen können (auĂźer essentielle Cookies).

According to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the TTDSG (Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act) in Germany, a simple “Accept” or “Reject” is not enough. You must break down the cookies into categories.

Required elements of a cookie banner:
Categorization of cookies:
Essential/technically necessary cookies (may be set without consent).
Functional cookies (e.g. for convenience functions such as language settings).
Analytics/tracking cookies (e.g. Google Analytics).
Marketing/advertising cookies (e.g. retargeting through Facebook Pixel).
Enable individual consent
Users must be able to consent individually for each category (except essential cookies).
A simple “Reject” option
It must be just as easy to reject all non-essential cookies as it is to accept them.
It would be nice if there was something like that for Germany… just accepting or rejecting is not enough here!

Thank you for your input, @Irene_Degel!

I understand your point and I’m really sorry that right now our widget doesn’t work the way you described. Although our Cookie Consent widget serves the function of notification only, I hope we’ll be able to consider this request in the future
