Cookie Consent asks a site visitor to approve the use of cookies, but does not leave an indication of the visitor’s response in an actionable location. Pushing the response (“yes” or “no” or some other binary indicator) into the data layer would allow Google Tag Manager to access the response as a data layer variable and enable or disable Google Analytics tags based on the response. Doing this would make Cookie Consent truly useful.

@Sselip thanks a lot for sharing your idea and for all the details!
Although this option sounds like a complex one, I really hope the devs will be able to consider it in the future updates. Anyways, I’ll keep you updated here
Thanks a lot for your help and for joining our community! We’re always happy to hear from you
Thank you, Helga. It would be a useful upgrade, and actually enable GTM users to respect the wishes of those who don’t want to be tracked.
Cheers,
