Choose diferrent settings for dynamic layouts feature

It would be awesome to apply different layout settings using dynamic layouts option. For example, 4 items on a homepage and the complete calendar on a different page with the same widget.

I would like to use the event calendars grid layout in two spots on my website. First on the homepage I would like to have a short row for “Today’s Events” with the grid just showing the events for that given day. Then I would like to use the same grid but with all events on a Events calendar page. Is there any way to specify that I only want one days events on the homepage and the full calendar on the other page using the same widget?

Hi there and welcome aboard @Tyler_Dominick

Unfortunately, there is no way to apply different settings to the same layout within one widget.

However, we already have such a request in the Wishlist, and I’ve added your comment there too. We’ll keep you posted in this thread :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi … I want to display just 4 events on the homepage and then all of the events on a different page. I only want to upload events the once and so not have to use two separate widgets. Is there a way to do this using code on the website?

Many thanks
Steve

Hi there, @Osho_Leela

Right now, unfortunately, it’s impossible to display different number of events on different pages using only 1 widget.

However, we already have this idea on the Wishlist, and I’ve added your comment there too :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your reply

You are always very welcome

By the way, feel free to check another ideas for Event Calendar and upvote the requests you’d like to see released. Your feedback is something that helps us move in the right direction!

I would also love to be able to display the upcoming events for the week (or a maximum of one row of upcoming events) on my website homepage and then have all the events display on the What’s on page.

Hi @tfilippi

Got it, thanks for sharing your feedback!

I would like to use one events calendar with two different widgets, and have successfully set this up with the “how to dynamically change the event calendar layout” tutorial. However, is there a way to have different filter settings for the two widgets? IE on the carousel of my events, it just needs to show the upcoming 5 events and not have any filter buttons. However, on the main events page, it needs to have the filter buttons so users can filter events by date, location, type, etc. If I add the filters to one, it adds it to the other - super annoying. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi there, @Sepha

Unfortunately, currently it’s impossible to do this. However, we already have this idea on the Wishlist, and I’ve moved your comment to the related discussion, where we’ll keep you in the loop :slightly_smiling_face:

I have a similar thing where I have a whole page devoted to events, then the homepage uses a slider using the same calendar, just a different snippet. However, for sidebars in some parts of the site, the code tries to show all results (over 100) and this is too much, as the sidebar exceeds the page content. It is a bit of a workaround, but, for a bit of mild inconvenience, I duplicate the event calendar and change the settings to show 6 upcoming events and have this as the sidebar variant. I do then have to delete, duplicate and redo the code - but it keep the site looking updated, so I am broadly happy. I would prefer code snippet that allowed some control of variants from one calendar, though, but this will do.

Thank you for such a detailed comment, @Phil - we really appreciate it!

I agree that this feature would be really helpful in such cases. Let’s see if this idea gets further traction in the community :slightly_smiling_face:

If we receive any news from the devs, we’ll promptly inform you here!
