Add an option to set a custom Sender Name and Subject

Please add an option to set a custom Sender Name and Subject like in Contact Form

This is really good idea, most of the times an adult will schedule a service for other person, like a kid (in our case pets, both cases they dont have any contact info) so having a customizable option its really helpful to know to who is the service.

Hi there, @Mimi_Pet

Many thanks for sharing your use case! We’ll have this idea in mind and see for more feedback from the community :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s really important to include the customer’s name in the email subject line; restaurant owners use this system, it’s just missing this feature to be truly top-notch. Keep up the great work on this and kudos again to the Elfsight team.

Thanks a lot for your support!

Let’s hope this idea gets more traction with the community and the devs will be able to consider it. We’ll keep you updated

Hi there,

Unfortunately, we don’t have any updates for now. As soon as we have any news, we’ll immediately inform you right here :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @Max ,

I know you said you don’t have updates in terms of when this will happen but I know that AI Chatbot recent update, was a surprise for many including me because I did not see it in “In-progress” so it came out of no where but I want to ask out of every widget Is this the next one that will have a custom Sender Name & Subject (Custom Domain) update? because we’ve seen a lot of them be done already the only other one I could think of is “Spinning Wheel” if it has a submission option but “Appointment” widget should be one of the most important ones.

Reasoning: in terms of agencies we can make an excuse like “we don’t support seeing AI Chatbot responses for now” to clients and wait for a update but clients absolutely need to see a client booking information so that Is what I mean by importance priority and I hope that is taken into consideration to make it the next one that will get this type of update.

Hi there, @Adore :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. You’re right, there have been some issues with tracking the progress of a few recent AI Chatbot features. We’ll do our best to prevent it from happening in the future

As for the Appointment Booking feature, it’s not currently on our roadmap. But we totally get how important it is for our clients, so we’re hopeful that the dev team will be able to explore it in future updates.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more news :slightly_smiling_face:

Instead of getting an email from elfsight (which may confuse people), being able to change the name on the email would be great as well as the email that is sent to me when people book

Hi there, @Michael_Cannone :waving_hand:

Thanks a heap for the feedback!

We already have a similar idea on the Wishlist. I’ve moved your comment to the thread, where we’ll collect more votes and feedback from other users.

If this idea gets more traction, we might consider it in the future updates :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Max, surprisingly there are only 19 votes for this, even if this functionality was highly requested on Form Builder where you implemented it. Would it be a large amount of work to implement the same functionality in this Widget? Customers (of my customers) are receiving booking confirmations mostly in their spam folders. It would be so much better, you would allow to configure a custom SMTP server here as well to have emails sent from your own domain (instead from notifications@forms.elfsightmail.com).

Hi @Markus :waving_hand:

Thank you for your feedback!

I’m really sorry to hear that booking confirmations are ending up in spam. I agree, adding the option for a custom sender name, subject, and SMTP configuration would resolve this issue.

As for whether it would be a lot of work or what the timeline might be, it’s a bit tricky to say at the moment since this feature isn’t on our roadmap yet. But, we’re hopeful that with more support from the community, it will catch the attention of our devs. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop if anything changes!

Also, we have a separate request for the SMTP feature. Feel free to give it an upvote here: Send notifications from a custom domain (SMTP)

Hi Max,

Thank you for your answer.

Please note that there are two wish lists out there for the same issue:
https://community.elfsight.com/t/send-notifications-from-a-custom-domain-smtp/115002 This is the one you have sent (8 votes)
https://community.elfsight.com/t/add-an-option-to-set-a-custom-sender-name-and-subject/66364 This is the one I got from Maria this morning (19 votes).

It may would make sense to take them together with 27 votes

You’re right, both ideas aim to achieve the same goal — making the booking confirmations fully white-label.

However, the custom Sender Name & Subject and SMTP are different features. Introducing the Sender Name and Subject might be the first step before adding the SMTP option, this is why we’ve decided to keep separate requests for each idea :slightly_smiling_face:
