Ability to re-arrange posts manually

I really love the blog widget, however for our use it would be super helpful to just be able to drag the posts manually (like photo gallery, etc)

Hi there, @Lo_Key

Your idea sounds like a great addition! If more users support this request, we’ll try to consider this option :slightly_smiling_face:

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and welcome to the Community!

Would you please consider allowing the changing of blog post relative position instead of just publishing it chronologically by adding a drag and drop ability to the actions

Great idea, @user18266, thanks for sharing!

I’ve moved it to another thread with a similar suggestion so that we keep all related comments in one place

Thank you for your help, and welcome to the community! :raised_hands:t2:

Hey, everyone who upvoted this request

We’ve reviewed your idea and have a couple of questions to better understand your needs

  • Why doesn’t date sorting meet your needs?

  • How would you prefer to organize the blog posts? Could you share more detail about your specific use case?

  • Would you like to change the post order only in the configurator list (screenshot 1) or in the blog itself too (screenshot 2)?

I use this blog, and it is an excellent widget.

  • The date sorting works fine for re-arranging blog display orders.
  • Organising the blog posts into categories or subjects would be good. The default view will show all blogs, but the user can select a category to display blog posts linked to that category. How this would be displayed would need some thinking, as it would be a list of category links.

Hey there, @Paul_Hayes1

A huge thank you for the feedback!

I guess these 2 requests cover your use case better. Feel free to check them out and upvote if you like the ideas:

Hello,

in the Post application it would be very useful to be able to change the order of articles, which one should appear first and which one after, beyond the recommended post.

This feature will really upgrade the Post App a lot.

Thanks

Hi there, @Dimitris_Melidis :waving_hand:

You mean the Blog widget, right?

If so, the posts there are displayed in date order. Do I get it right that you’d like to keep the posts date, but display them in a custom order? If this is the case, could you please describe how you’d like to organize the posts in your widget?

Thanks for your interest.
It may be possible to move the articles manually, up or down, so that we can put them in the order we want them to appear on our page.

Got you, thanks!

I’ve moved your suggestion back to the Wishlist. If it gets more votes, we’ll try to consider it in the future :slightly_smiling_face:

I think the date sort works for some, but I personally would prefer to have the flexibility to sort the posts manually. My blog is more of a series of articles and the date is not relevant. Yes it might be published but there may be certain posts that I feel are better suited at the beginning rather than pushed to the bottom because they are older. So having the ability to sort manually would be really helpful.

A huge thank you for sharing your thoughts!

We’ll try to think about manual post sorting in the future, especially if this idea gets more traction with others.

We’ll keep you updated :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Max ,

For me the Blog Widget is the most important one, with all other widgets complementing it.

  1. Why doesn’t date sorting meet your needs? It doesn’t enhance visibility of articles in the blog that have been updated since there is no “Last Updated” visibility for articles. Or, to just create more visibility of articles beyond the “Featured Post,” as visitors would not need to scroll to find old post.
  2. How would you prefer to organize the blog posts? Could you share more detail about your specific use case? Automated views could be useful, for e.g., “Most Popular” based on views if that is tracked/trackable, “Most Comments” if the Comments Widget could be linked to articles, and “Most Popular” based on a combination of visitor interactions (e.g., likes, comments, views, etc.,). So generally based on how visitors engage with each article.
  3. Would you like to change the post order only in the configurator list (screenshot 1) or in the blog itself too (screenshot 2)? I think being able to use the configurator would be sufficient, though being able to do it in the blog may be useful as you can see instantly how the change in order looks.

As it relates to “Comments Widget linked to articles”, is there a Wish List item to make Elfsight’s Widgets “Modular,” so being able to connect widgets to each other.

Hope this feedback helps.

With thanks,

@Max Is the manual sorting of the blog order still being considered.
In your screen shot above, being able to drag and drop the order to display would be great. I’m using the “Blog Widget” as a way to post articles and resources, but I would like to have them displayed in a specific order. Newer articles may be moved in between where 2 articles are displayed, but the publish/created date would still be more recent.
I guess having the ability to sort by date or sort by order would be great.

Hi there, @Eric_Petruskie :waving_hand:

Currently, it’s just a Wishlist idea and we don’t have it in our roadmap yet. However, if anything changes, we’ll immediately update you in this thread :slightly_smiling_face:
