Where is the Search app?

Dear friends,

We regret to inform you that we’ve had to remove the Search app from our catalog. This means the widget is no longer available to new users. However, if you’ve already created a Search widget, you can continue using it as usual.

The reason for this change is that Google has deprecated the ability to create search API keys for new projects. Since the Search app relies on Google’s API, it’s no longer functional without the API key.

We sincerely apologize for any frustration this may have caused. Unfortunately, we don’t have a reliable workaround at the moment.

We’ve added this issue to our roadmap and are actively researching alternative solutions. We hope to provide an update in the future, and we’ll make sure to keep you informed as soon as we have any news.

Thank you for your patience and understanding :folded_hands:

As an alternative, I wonder if you could partner with Site Search 360. It looks like that is what Duda did, and I am using that search widget for my site.

Oh, thanks a lot for sharing, @Prevalent_Arts! Worth checking out, what do you think, @Max?

Hi there, @Prevalent_Arts :waving_hand:

Many thanks for the feedback!

Unfortunately, this partnership isn’t possible at the moment. However, we’ll try our best to find a workaround that help us bring the Search app back.

As soon as we have any news, we’ll update you in this thread :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay. No problem. I am all set, myself, since Duda already offers it. My suggestion was more so if anyone else could benefit from it.

Brave Search API

Hi there, @user11932 and welcome to the Community :waving_hand:

We’ll try to examine the possibility of using the Brave search API for this. Thank you so much for the feedback :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello, thank you  and you’re welcome. Hopefully Brave Search API is the perfect replacement and causes this to be fixed soon, as I added the Search app to a current project (it was still in my ‘My Apps’ section) and just found out it no longer works without an existing API Key, which I don’t have. :frowning:

Interesting. I didn’t think too many people were familiar with the Brave web browser, and I did not know they had a Google search alternative.
