Hello friends!
This week we’re taking a look at Masía de San Juan — a historic rural estate in Castellón with a really strong mix of atmosphere, trust signals, and booking-focused structure.
It’s a nice example of how a heritage property can be presented online, so let’s go through it ![]()
What’s working well?
The website has many strong points and here are the ones that caught our attention:
Strong atmosphere from the first screen
The hero slider sets the tone really well — different views of the property, from the pool in nature to the historic stone courtyard and fortress details.
Each slide adds something new, and together they clearly show this is a unique historic place, not just another rural stay:
Direct booking right in the hero
The booking widget is placed exactly where it should be.
Users can check availability straight away without scrolling or jumping anywhere else — super smooth path to booking:
Strong trust across platforms
The mix of Booking (9.7), Google (4.9), Airbnb Superhost, and overall 4.96 rating works really well together.
Seeing consistent high ratings across platforms instantly builds confidence, especially for new visitors:
Nice way of presenting the rating
The “4.96 traveler recommendation” block is a good touch — it doesn’t just show a number, it explains what it means.
Being in the “top 5%” makes the rating feel much more meaningful.
Clear directions
The “How to get there” section is very practical and easy to follow.
Distances, routes, and Google Maps link are all there — no guessing needed.
What Could Be Improved?
The site already works really well, but a few small adjustments could make it even easier and more enjoyable to explore.
Hero text readability
Since the hero works as a slider, text readability changes depending on the background image.
On darker nature shots the title works well, but on lighter stone backgrounds the contrast drops and the text becomes harder to catch at a glance.
[!note] Recommendation
Add a subtle overlay or gradient behind the text to ensure consistent contrast across all slides.
Hero headline structure
Right now the hero headline combines multiple messages into a single line — brand name, description of the stay, and the direct booking message.
Because of this, it takes a moment to separate what’s most important.
[!note] Recommendation
Split the headline into clear hierarchy. For example:
- Masía de San Juan (brand)
- Rural fortified stay in Castellón (context)
- Direct booking message (value)
Booking.com badge prominence
The Booking.com award badge is visually much stronger than other trust elements on the page.
It naturally draws attention, but at the same time it competes with the site’s own branding and other awards.
[!note] Recommendation
Reduce its visual weight or align it with other awards in a unified section.
Text density in key sections
Some sections contain quite dense text blocks, which slows down scanning. Here is an example:
For a booking-focused site, users usually want to understand key information quickly rather than read long paragraphs.
[!note] Recommendation:
- shorten key descriptions
- turn parts into icon-based highlights (location, amenities, distances)
- improve spacing rhythm between sections
How do Elfsight widgets perform?
We also looked at how different Elfsight widgets are used across the site and how they are integrated into the overall experience.
Reviews
The Google Reviews and Booking.com Reviews widgets work really well together here. Seeing strong ratings from different platforms side by side instantly builds trust, especially for first-time visitors who are still deciding.
The AI Review Summary is a nice extra layer — it saves users from digging through long review lists and helps them understand the general sentiment much faster.
Instagram Feed
The Instagram Feed adds a nice sense of “real life” to the page.
Instead of just polished marketing visuals, it shows actual moments — updates, guests, and day-to-day impressions — which makes the place feel more alive and active.
Button
The small Button in the “How to get there” section removes friction for users who just want to quickly open the route on Google Maps without searching or copying anything.
Final thoughts
Masía de San Juan already does a lot of things really well — it’s visually strong, trustworthy, and easy to understand from the first screen.
Nothing major feels wrong here. All recommendations are more small tweaks that could make the whole experience a bit smoother to go through.
