This week we’re taking a closer look at Malta Sailing Experiences — a sailing company offering boat trips and private charters around Malta ![]()
The site immediately puts you in the right mood. Turquoise water, a white yacht, strong sunlight — it feels like the experience is already happening before you even scroll.
At the same time, a few tweaks could make the visitor journey smoother. So, let’s see what stands out and what could be polished ![]()
What’s working well?
There’s a lot to love about this site! Here are the key elements we liked most
Strong emotional hero
The hero image does exactly what it should for this type of product — it sells the experience instantly.
Turquoise sea, bright light, a yacht on the water — no extra explanation needed. You immediately understand what’s on offer, and it does its job well.
Clear offer at a glance
Right under the hero, users see the main trip types: Day Charter, Evening Cruises, Short Breaks.
It’s a simple way to set expectations early, without forcing people to scroll.
Strong Book Now placement
The Book Now button stands out clearly thanks to strong contrast and is repeated across the page (header, footer, sticky elements).
No matter where you are on the page, the action is always easy to find.
Simple, human tone
The wording stays simple and avoids sounding corporate or over-polished.
Lines like “We are a family business” or “Come as a client, leave as a friend” fit the type of experience they’re offering — relaxed, small-group sailing where personal contact actually matters.
Very strong social proof
A 5.0 rating across Google, Facebook, and Tripadvisor with 1,100+ reviews is a strong trust signal.
Seeing the same rating across platforms makes it feel consistent and well-established.
Real guest photos
The site is full of real moments — guests on deck, sunset trips, swimming stops, champagne on board, kids steering the boat.
This works much better than stock photos and clearly shows what the experience looks like.
Wide range of trip options
Six clear categories (Day Charters, Catamaran Trips, Evening Trips, Half Day Trips, Team Building, Short Breaks) make it easy for different visitors to quickly find what fits them.
Multiple contact options
Phone, WhatsApp, email, and a contact form are all available.
WhatsApp in particular is a nice touch for international travelers planning ahead:
What Could Be Improved?
Now let’s look at a few details that could make the visitor journey clearer and more effective:
Hero text overlaps with yacht
The words “Experiences”, “Sailing”, “Short Breaks” overlap with the yacht image, which makes part of the title harder to read.
[!tip] Recommendation
Adjust the heading position so it sits on a cleaner background, or add a subtle overlay to improve readability.
Text is too wide for comfortable reading
Some text blocks stretch too wide across the screen, which makes longer paragraphs harder to follow.
[!tip] Recommendation
Keep images full-width, but limit text to a centered column. It will instantly improve readability.
Performance issues
We found a couple of technical points that are affecting the website’s performance.
Elfsight widgets missing lazy load attribute
The widget code on the site doesn’t include the data-elfsight-app-lazy attribute, which helps load widgets only when they are needed. Without it, the page loads everything at once, which can lower performance scoresЖ
To fix it, go to your Elfsight dahsboard, copy the installation codes for each widget (they include lazy load attribute by default), delete current installation codes on your website and add the new ones:
Unused CSS files
The website is also loading some CSS that isn’t actually used on the page. This adds unnecessary weight and slows down loading speed.
Removing unused CSS is one of the simplest ways to improve performance:

Subscribe button issue
The Subscribe section looks slightly unfinished — the button label isn’t visible and the email field is not clearly readable.
[!tip] Recommendation
Fix the button label and make sure the email input is clearly visible. This is an important conversion point.
Gallery is a bit too long
The gallery is strong visually, but quite long for a homepage. By the time users reach the bottom, the message is already clear.
[!tip] Recommendation
Keep a shorter selection of key images and move the rest to a separate gallery page.
How do Elfsight widgets perform?
We also went through how widgets are implemented across the site. They already fit in nicely and support different parts of the experience in a natural way:
All-in-One Reviews
The All-in-One Reviews widget on the homepage does a great job building trust right away by showing strong ratings from Google, Facebook, and Tripadvisor.
The main limitation is how the reviews are currently displayed — users see them one by one, which doesn’t fully reflect the size of the 1,100+ review base.
[!tip] Recommendation
Show multiple reviews at once (for example, 3–4 cards using a Carousel layout). This would make the strong social proof visible immediately instead of hiding it behind a single-card view.
All-in-One Chat
The All-in-One Chat widget provides a simple and direct way for visitors to get in touch via Facebook or WhatsApp.
It fits well here, especially for international users who may prefer quick messaging instead of filling out a form.
The Back to Top button blends nicely with the site’s design and helps users move around long pages without friction.
It’s a small detail, but it improves overall navigation, especially on content-heavy pages with lots of images and sections.
Final thoughts
Malta Sailing Experiences does a great job at what matters most — setting a mood and selling the experience visually. The photography, reviews, and structure already work well together.
Most improvements here are small refinements: better text layout, slightly tighter structure, and making strong elements like reviews easier to digest at first glance.
