Shorter, custom urls for events widgets

I would be so much better if we could customize URLs for events, and especially recurring events.

I was interested in Elfsight as a work-around for Squarespace’s limited events section, where you can’t easily create recurring events in a series. But the widgets that represent events are janky–long and nonsensical, with no correlation to the event name or date. It would be great to be able to customize the back half of calendar event URLs, so the URL for an event called “Check In” on Feb 1 could end in “check-in-02-01.”

Even better would be the option to have auto-updating URLs in the series to match the calendar date. For example, the series beginning Feb 1, automatically have that event URL end in “-02-01”, and the next one “02-08”, followed by “02-15”, etc.

Hey there and welcome aboard @Dan_Knitzer

Thank you for adding your idea to the Wishlist!

If I understand correctly, you’d like to add event name and date parameters at the end of the link to each event. However, I am not quite sure how you need these parameters to be received. Do you want to click on the Copy Link button and get the link with the needed parameters:

If I misunderstood you, please elaborate on your use case :slightly_smiling_face:

I am trying to find a way to edit the copy link and share it by email to redirect people to our website when they click on the link from the pop-up with the event calendar. Can that be fixed?

Hi there, @Cleveland_Rhodes

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to customize the links now, but we have this idea on the Wishlist, and I’ve merged your comment with the existing request.

In the meantime, could you please describe how you’d like to customize these links?

Hey Max. Thanks. Sounds good. For example, tonight’s event https://alliance.nyc/events#calendar-ce702cbd-4d6f-4926-bbf4-5d44cfc9e856-event-m1kthxl5 is a very special event, and the url doesn’t reflect that. We accept that https://alliance.nyc/events is an inevitable starting url, but wish we could customize everything else for each unique event occurrence

Got you, thanks!

Sorry for the late replay, but these calendars will be posted on our website for visitors to listen to or watch. Do you need the links?

I’m not understanding your reply. We just want to customize URLs for our 60+ events/month

Sorry for the confusion, @Dan_Knitzer.

@Cleveland_Rhodes has just responded to my question

@Cleveland_Rhodes No, I just wanted to clarify what exactly you’d like to change in the URL appearing from the Copy Link button :slightly_smiling_face:
