Reducing bandwidth / load times

There have been several posts on this forum asking for the various widgets to be streamlined to reduce bandwidth and loading times.

The javascript file for the Google Reviews widget widget is 1MB! Just adding this widget quadruples the download size of my entire page.

I notice that this file is being server uncompressed. Setting the server to gzip encode the JS files is a trivial change to the settings and would save 2/3 of this band width - 320KB rather than 1MB.

Surely, this is an easy win?
