I have an issue where I’m renting 2 spaces in NYC to hold an event over 3 days. Because I don’t own the location I don’t think the API from Google will work for both locations. Is there a workaround where I can create the map with each of the sites names for our event?
Hi there, @Louis_Fullagar
Google API will work fine even if you don’t own the locations. Have you encountered any issues when adding the locations?
If yes, please provide more details and send me a screenshot of the issue. I’ll gladly look into this for you
Ok thanks for the help. Looks good now.
One question though. How do I get it to show directions from 1 site to the other? When I click it opens up a map in another window even though I thought I set it to not do that.
I see that you’ve chosen On the Map for the Direction button, and it’s working correctly on your website:
However, you’ve also asked how to show directions from 1 site to the other. Do I get it right that you want to redirect users to a specific URL by clicking on the Directions button instead of opening the directions on the map on your website or being redirected to the map on Google in another tab?
So right now if I click directions on the first site it redirects me to google maps. I don’t know why. I want folks to be able to click one site and get directions to the second site whilst saying on the same map on our website
You were checking the Direction button from the widget’s editor, right?
The thing is that the Direction button with On the Map option enabled redirects you to Google Maps only in the editor. On your website, the directions are shown on the map without any redirection to Google Maps. Could you please check it?
However, if I misunderstood you, could you please provide more details/examples on what you mean under this:
Yes you’re right. In the editor it sends me to Google but on the website it does not. I guess what I was hoping to do is click on Site A and be able to show how to get to Site B. Here is a link to what that looks like on Google. I was just trying to recreate that when people click on the first site on my website.
Unfortunately, this feature is available on Google Maps only and there is no option to add it to the widget’s map now.
However, I’ve added this idea to the Wishlist on your behalf - Build directions in the widget's map like when redirecting to Google Maps
If it gets more votes, it might be considered in the future
Great! Thanks for all your help.
You’re always welcome
