LLM or Google — how did you find Elfsight?

Hello friends! :waving_hand:t2:

We’ve been noticing lately that more and more people are using ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLMs when searching for nearly everything. And that made us really curious:

If you just joined us:

How did you find Elfsight — through an LLM, Google, or something else?

If you’ve been with us for a while:

If you were looking for us today, where would you go?

It feels like the way we discover tools is changing, and we’re curious whether you’ve experienced that shift too.

I’d really love to hear how you approach and navigate it

Hi @Helga,

In response:

  1. If you just joined us:: I found Elsight via Google Search using various search strings such as: “Popular AI Chatbots for Website Integration”, " AI Chatbots for WordPress Sites", and “Top 5 AI Chatbots for Websites.” I do not yet trust the answers given by LLM’s, so I corroborated the LLM’s answers by viewing the traditional Google Search results and the LLM’s citations. Once I identified target chatbots for our site, I performed additional work prior to selecting the “winner.”

  2. If you’ve been with us for a while: No change. I’d do the same as Item 1.

I hope this helps!

Hi @Helga

since I’ve been doing this for a while, I would use AI more these days. However, that depends heavily on whether I already know what it’s about and understand it. I wouldn’t use AI as a pure search engine, but I would still use it if the search engine doesn’t provide suitable results.

I just tried it.

The AI learns from me. I asked ChatGPT about “review widget.” The AI is now explaining how it works technically. Perhaps that’s because I’m using AI more this way.

But I was actually thinking about something else. ChatGPT misinterpreted what I might have wanted. :upside_down_face:

The Google search engine presented me with “Elfsight” for the same question, and it was the first result. :hugs:

Any more questions? Good search engine marketing is still important.

kind regards

sina

Hi @Petar_Dietrich,

Using several sources sounds like a solid approach! I feel the same, I don’t dismiss (but actually accept and explore) new and promising tools, but need to double-check with something tried and tested :100:

I wonder, at what point would LLM results feel reliable enough for you not to double-check them?

Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi @Sina,

I loved the way you described your approach, thank you! Agree, trying to be as helpful as possible, AI might digress or even miss the point. Probably, this is its room for improvement when it comes to promotion through LLMs

This part was especially interesting - does it happen often that you turn to AI after trying a regular search engine first?

Hi Helga.

Yes, the search engine already has AI support. I don’t need to use my own LLM for that, which might learn something incorrect or undesirable. :hugs:

Hi @Helga,

I don’t see LLMs as something you can automatically trust — now or in the future — especially for important decisions. They’re very powerful tools, but they’re still just tools.

How much you trust them should depend on what’s at stake. If you’re brainstorming ideas or drafting something simple, it’s fine to use them freely. But if a decision could affect money, safety, reputation, or other serious outcomes, it makes sense to double-check the information.

LLMs don’t actually “know” things — they generate answers by recognizing patterns in data. That makes them extremely useful, but not infallible. So for now, the smart approach is to use them confidently, but verify them when it really matters.

I hope this helps!

It all comes down to your level of engagement with LLMs - that’s a great point.

Thanks a lot for sharing, Petar!

@salaar_yasar ahh, that’s so great to hear, thank you for sharing! Do you still find decent services/tools through YouTube, or have LLMs come into play already?

We use Booqable and it was added as an app to supplement their limited website builder. It’s been working great and the customer service has been exceptional; highly satisfied so far.

I originally found you from Grok and confirmed with Gemini as the best Chatbot for a new squarespace website. Now I link from my browser.

Hi @Helga ,

I knew about Elfsight before, but recently I’ve been using ChatGPT a lot while building my website. I already had a clear idea of the system I wanted, but ChatGPT helped me explore more creative ways to use the Event Calendar widget and adapt it to support a tour marketplace structure.

It actually helped me think about page structure, filtering logic, and how the widget can work across different pages of the site. So the tool itself was already in my mind, but LLMs helped me unlock more ways to use it effectively.

I had asked Grok for a Chatbot recommemdation as a low cost app (widget) for a new website on squarespace. It recommened 3 and elfsight was at the top ease of use. Now if i could get it to dig into our Google calendar to find current or future dates of our events, I would be even happier. Who said a 75 year old couldn’t do this.

@user32359 looks like we have a second user in this thread coming from LLMs, so great! And I’m convinced it’s never too late to dig into something new as long as you have curiosity and interest

Sounds like you’re exploring a lot of new tools for your new website. Have LLMs become your go-to way to find services lately?
