Event Calendar: [MAJOR UPDATE] Revamped Calendar layouts and expanded Google Calendar integration! 🚀

We’ve been working hard on a new update for the Event Calendar app, and it’s finally here! :tada:

This release brings some fantastic new features, including a revamped mobile view for Calendar and expanded Google Calendar intergation. Let’s see what’s been done :backhand_index_pointing_down:

What’s inside the update?

Fresh mobile design for Calendar layouts (Month and Week)

We’ve made significant improvements to the mobile Calendar layouts! Previously, the Month and Week layouts showed all days at once, which made the calendar cells narrow, often cutting off event names.

Now, only a few days are displayed at first, and you can easily swipe right to see more days. This not only improves the look but also gives more space for event names to be visible:

New features in Google Calendar integration

We’ve enhanced the Google Calendar integration to bring in more event details! You can now display:

  • Venue
  • Host
  • Tag
  • Event type
  • Button
  • Image/Video
  • Files
  • And assign different background colors to each event

Important: Check out this article for a full guide on adding these elements (Using Tags for Event Details subsection)

Well now my calendar is pushed over to the right. Also, the real game changer feature would be to connect more than one Google Calendar. I need to be able to display combined events from two different accounts.

Hey there, @user23780 :waving_hand:

I haven’t found a widget with Office Events Calendar title in your account, but I guess you’ve changed it to Flotilla Office Events Calendar.

I’ve just checked this widget and everything is displayed correctly on my end:

Could you please check it once again? Additionally, please check the website, where your widget is installed and let me know if the issue occurs there.

As for multiple Google Calendars, I totally get your point and agree that it would be a great improvement. We’ll update you in this thread if any news come up - Display events from different Google Calendars at once

I’m still not seeing all of the events in the widget. Is there something I need to do to apply this?

It appears to be a Firefox issue.

I created 2 event type tags for my Google Calendar events. When I added the 1st one, everything was perfect. When I added the new tag to the other type of events, all previously tagged events changed the event type to the 2nd type, irrespective of the fact that the event tag declared the other original event type.
Did I do something wrong?

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention!

@user23780, @Paulo3, our dev team is already on it and working to fix the issues. We’ll let you know as soon as everything is resolved.

@Greg_Heilman, I’m so sorry for the confusion! There was some miscommunication with the dev team, and you’re right, the widget still has a limit on the number of events pulled from Google Calendar. The good news is we’re actively working on it now.

We’ll keep you posted on the further progress in this thread - Pull all events from Google Calendar

Hey folks @user23780, @Paulo3 :waving_hand:

The issues with the widget display in Firefox and tag merging have been fixed. Please check your widgets and let us know if everything is fine :slightly_smiling_face:

@Max @ Elfsight Team,

Great to see these updates. I haven’t gotten around to testing them out yet, however I have one question so far:

  • Do the new features apply to existing widgets already published or new ones created?

I’m thinking it’s both, but just want to confirm.

With thanks,

mw :man_technologist:t5: :sparkles:

Hi,

It is close to perfect

I wanted to have a multi word name for the event category. If I write name=word1 word2, only word1 appears. I tried both “word1 word2” and ‘word1 word2’, but then the " and ’ are displayed.
If this a feature or a bug? Can it be changed/fixed?

Many thanks,

Hi there, @iammasterweb :waving_hand:

Thank you for your comment! Yep, these features are available for the new widgets and existing ones (created before this update) :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Paulo3 :waving_hand:

The words in the event types should be separated with _ symbol. Here is a correct format:

Please try it out and let me know if it worked

Hi,

I had already tried that but the category in the widget was displayed exactly like that, with the underscores, which was not what I intended

But then I tried again with the words separated with spaces and it now seems to work perfectly.

I don’t know if I had something wrong before or if you just changed the behaviour, but it it working perfectly the way I intended.

Thanks

You’re right, the formatting was simplified and you don’t need to separate words with _. We’ll update the info in our Help Center article soon.

Thank you so much for the update :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi! Thanks for this update! The calendar links on my website won’t open for some reason. There is no way for a user to see the event details or register. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi there, @Sue_Webley :waving_hand:

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Currently, you’ve set an Action on Event Click to Go To Event Button Link:

You haven’t added buttons to your events, that’s why nothing happens on click. If you want to open a popup with the event details, please switch the Action on Event Click to View Event Details In Popup :slightly_smiling_face:
