Issue description:
In the Elfsight Dashboard when editing the YouTube Gallery widget it allows the “Pop-Up” and the “Inline” configurations to enter into full screen. However, when I embed it on a Google Sites, it says “Full Screen is unavailable”, and refer me to this Google page Watch in full screen mode - Computer - YouTube Help
Could this be due to a widget configuration issue, or is this just how the widget works on Google Sites?
Link to the page with the widget in question:
Not published at the moment.
Is it available on other website development platforms like WordPress, Webflow, Framer, etc.?
Or is it just restricted based on the technology of the platform?
Is there like a general rule to guide the use of Elfsight’s widgets when it comes to functionality?
Suggestion:
This maybe a painful for Elfsight, however it may be useful in the long run if each Widget had a detailed list of features, and their compatibility on the various platforms. Could start with the listed features on the promotion site for each widget. This detail list of features and their compatibility could become part of the community knowledge base.
@Master_Web This issue is specific to the platform, not the widget itself. Google Sites CMS is built using iframes, so all elements are converted into iframe format, which causes the issue.
Therefore, this problem might arise on platforms built with iframes, but on platforms like WordPress, Webflow everything should work as expected. Although Framer is built on iframes too, this issue shouldn’t occur there.
You can find the list of the platforms our widgets are compatible with at elfsight.com:
I did see those “marketing/promotion pages” for the widgets, and platforms list. For me as a novice, it’s not knowing the nuances of how a widget will function on a particular platform without trial and error.
I’ll do some reading and deep research to learn more about iFrame. I also think the Elfsight blog will be helpful in tandem with this community/knowledge base.
Thank you for your patience and support. Just so you know, I’m trying to push Google Sites web development to limit as part of my own testing.
You’d notice that Elfsight’s widgets are heavily integrated on the website I shared with you.
@Master_Web Yeah, Google Sites is one of the trickiest platforms when it comes to integrating widgets due to its iframe setup, which can sometimes cause issues.
That said, in most cases, everything should work fine, but if anything appears, we’re always happy to look into this
For other platforms, it’s generally much easier. Even when they use iframes, like Wix, there are plenty of workarounds to get the widgets working smoothly.
