Can localized All-in-One Reviews widgets share one directly collected review corpus?

  • Issue description:

We are evaluating Elfsight All-in-One Reviews for a custom bilingual e-commerce website available in French and English.

Our required behavior is:

  1. Display the widget and review form in French on the French website.
  2. Display the widget and review form in English on the English website.
  3. Allow customers to submit reviews in their original language.
  4. Display all French and English reviews together without automatic translation or language filtering.
  5. Use one shared total review count and average rating across both website languages.

Could you please confirm the following?

  1. Can one All-in-One Reviews widget automatically change its interface and form language according to the page locale, for example /fr and /en?

  2. Is there a supported URL parameter, JavaScript API or Custom JS method for changing the interface language dynamically while keeping the same widget ID?

  3. If two localized widgets are required, can they share the same Collected via Widget review corpus?

For example:

  • A review submitted through the French widget should also appear in the English widget.
  • A review submitted through the English widget should also appear in the French widget.
  • Both widgets should display exactly the same total count and average rating.

  1. If directly collected reviews are tied to individual widgets, what is the recommended supported configuration for a bilingual website that needs one shared review
    corpus?

  2. Would using one widget with bilingual text configured through Edit Texts be the only way to keep all directly collected reviews and the aggregate in one place?

We are evaluating this before purchasing the appropriate subscription, so confirmation of the supported setup and required number of widgets would be very helpful. The widget is not installed yet. This is a pre-implementation evaluation.

Unfortunately, changing the widget interface language automatically based on the widget locale isn’t supported at the moment. I’m really sorry about that!

We already have this feature request on our Wishlist, and you can upvote it here: Auto-translation of all widgets based on location

For now, the only possible workaround would be to create two separate widgets — one for each language version. Our devs can then try to sync the forms so that reviews submitted through one widget would automatically appear in both.

I can’t guarantee that this solution will work, but our devs will do their best to help.

Since you’re currently on the Free plan, which allows only one widget, could you please set up your widget first — add the source, customize it as needed, and let me know once it’s ready?

After that, I’ll create a copy of the widget in my test account and pass it along to our devs. If they manage to make the workaround work, you’ll then need to upgrade to the Basic plan, and I’ll move the second widget to your account :slightly_smiling_face:
