British English for the chatbot replies

This is cool, had a quick play. I’ve had a love hate relationship with AI Bots, mostly hate. This is not with the AI Bots but the lack options provided by the mainly service companies where I guess they actually don’t want to help. I noticed that we get put in questions and answers, this is good because we can use this to upsell or help the client further.

One think I noticed is that is replies with American English, being English and living in England this grates a bit and may annoy those clients who also see Z’s not S’s. It feels bit ‘digital’ and impersonal. Personally I think English is a bit bloated and needs a trim here and there. They could remove some silent letters etc but the Z is more southern and Eastern European sounding rather than S which we still use in the UK. If that could be an option for use to use British English, it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Community, @Phil_Richardson and many thanks for such a detailed feedback!

Glad to say that it’s possible to do! Just describe your language preferences in the Instructions and the bot will respond using the needed language version:

Please test it out and let me know if it worked :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks Max,

yeah it’s on UK British but still using Zs.

The Language setting in the widget controls the translation of some widget elements, but it doesn’t affect the language of the bot’s responses.

The bot determines the language based on the user’s first message and continues in that language throughout the conversation.

If you want the bot to respond in a specific language version (e.g., British English), you should describe this preference in the Instructions:

It’s crucial to provide the right recommendations and train the bot properly to achieve the desired result.

Please test it out and let me know if it helped :slightly_smiling_face:

how do I do that when it’s defaulting to American English. Most questions would be the same so it would’t know if it was British or US English.

I think the response should be British English, especially if that is selected. Some may never notice but some will and it’ll not feel right.

Just add this recommendation to the widget’s instructions. Something like this "If users ask questions in English, always respond using British English, but not American":

Will do.
