Widgets won't work on WordPress

I’ve tried using the HTML code I generated in Elfsight’s tool for having my Twitter Feed in my sidebar on my WordPress website, but it WILL NOT work. In the Widgets page I use the HTML code block, drag and drop into Sidebar and then paste in the code in the relevant box, add a header, click save… NOTHING. The timer rolls round FOREVER (I left it for over two hours and it was still going round and round and round yesterday!), so it won’t adopt the setting for whatever reason.

It takes a long while to get a response from the email helpdesk who have said that it may be that some ‘styles’ are stopping it from working. I have asked them what in particularly they mean but I will expect to wait another day or so before I hear.

I really need to crack on ASAP with getting this to work due to pressures of other workload. Any ideas?!

@GreatSkyMcIntyre Hello and welcome :tada:

We’re super excited to have you as part of our community!

I see that my colleague Annet has already contacted you. As Annet said, It can be a conflict of the widget with the WordPress theme or its scripts and plugins. We can’t say for sure, as we need to see what’s going on in the backend during installation.

Please send to Annet the requested info and our devs will be happy to look into this for you.

Have a nice day :slightly_smiling_face:

It sounds more like the widget is getting blocked before WordPress can save it than an issue with the HTML itself. If the spinner never finishes, it’s often caused by a plugin conflict, theme scripts, caching, or even a security plugin preventing the widget settings from being saved. Testing with all non-essential plugins temporarily disabled and switching to a default WordPress theme can help narrow it down.

While working on the sidebar for Park St Dental Practice, a similar issue came up where the page layout was also displaying left-aligned after adding a widget. Has anyone else experienced a widget affecting the page alignment? If so, what was the best way to remove the widget cleanly and restore the normal layout without breaking the rest of the page?

Hopefully someone in the community has come across both the endless saving spinner and the left-alignment issue, as they may be connected.

Hi there, @user38377 and welcome to the Community :waving_hand:

I’ve checked your website and the widget didn’t show up on my end. I’ve noticed that you’ve reached the views limit and the widget got deactivated, so I’ve temporarily increased the limit while investigating the issue.

However, it didn’t help and the widget still doesn’t show up. Could you please restore the widget on your website? I’ll be happy to take a closer look :slightly_smiling_face:
