I want to be able to upload videos directly from my computer instead of attaching a video link on the portfolio app.
Hi there @Yuki_Kodo
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!
I cannot but agree that it would be a great addition. Hope the devs will try to think this idea over in our upcoming enhancements. We’ll keep you in the loop
Hi,
I know I’m joining this post a bit late, but since it already has 7 upvotes and will probably gain more traction, I thought I’d share my experience.
I don’t think this option is very viable, to be honest. I’ve been using the portfolio plugin for quite a while, and my site gets a lot of traffic because of my content. Let me explain: I once tried adding animated GIFs to my portfolio’s cover at 640p (even paid for CapCut to make sure they wouldn’t pixelate).
The portfolio looked stunning with animated images—until the complaints started pouring in about my site being way too slow. After checking, the GIFs were the problem. I can only imagine how much worse things would get with direct video uploads.
Just wanted to leave my two cents here based on personal experience. It might work for some, but for me, performance and user experience took a serious hit.
Hi there, @Savitar
A huge thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Your comment sounds reasonable, but if we consider this idea, we’ll try to think over possible optimization issues
This would be an awesome idea! As someone who works in the film industry, sometimes we have videos and footage that may not be available by means of YouTube or Vimeo, the fact we can’t upload from any other site makes this extremely limiting to showcasing portfolios!
Got you, thank you so much for the feedback
