Store Locator: Filter locations by categories and tags! 🔥

It’s a big day for Store Locator users! We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and we’re thrilled to share now you can filter locations by Categories and Tags :fire:

What’s inside the update?

Adding categories and tags

To add categories or tags, just open the Edit section for the needed location and click “Add Category” or “Add Tags”.

You can choose from a variety of icons for categories, either from the widget library or by uploading your own:

There are also default tags available to simplify the setup. However, you can also add your own custom ones for more flexibility:

Enabling filters

To activate the new filters, go to the Filters tab. Along with Categories and Tags filters, you can now add an Open Now filter to highlight stores that are currently open:

Choose between Inline or Side Panel filter styles to match your site’s layout. On mobile, filters will appear in a convenient Side panel popup:

Plus, you can edit the names of the filters and their elements in the Edit Texts section under the Settings tab for a more personalized experience:

Watch this video to see the filters in action:

Have you tried out the new filters? Let us know what you think in the comments — we’d love to hear your feedback

Is there a way to change the name of the display name for Tags and Categories (for example I need it to say "Service Region” instead of Tag and “Service Area” instead of Categories for the filter names displayed to users

Hi there, @Info_at_BEST :waving_hand:

Sure, you can change the filter names in the Edit Texts section on the Settings tab of your widget’s settings

This is really good!

This turns the Store Locator into a Business Directory. A couple of new features that would be really helpful.

  1. The category needs to be persisted in the dataset when you export / import, just like email etc. For example, if I wanted to work on the data in CSV format, I would lose the categories assigned during export and then have to manually reset them after importing. When you have hundreds, even thousands, of businesses, that’s not practical.
  2. If I have a list of plumbers, I would like the option that, if a particular service is in the filtered group, there is a way to ensure they appears at the top, like a sponsored ad concept. It would allow us to monetise the feature when we propose it to service providers - top ranking, eye line = $$ cost.

I’m sure there will be more but these are the only two I can think of. As I said still a great development.

Thanks, Paul
