Reduce cache time in Linkedin Post

Hi @Andreas4

I completely understand your point, and we ourselves see the benefits of reducing the cache time.

Unfortunately, due to some technical restrictions, we cannot make this change now. However, we do have plans to look into this further and hope to find a solution to reduce the cache time in the future.

As soon as we receive any updates on it, we’ll inform you in this thread :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you so much for pointing us in this direction!

A post was split to a new topic: LinkedIn post update issue

Please please reduce cache time in LinkedIn posts
I have added the feeds to customers websites and they just can“t understand the huge delay.
It would have been nice if this issues was more clear when purchasing the service.

Thanks

Hi there, @Christian_Sahl_Jense

I totally get your point, and sincerely apologize for all the confusion caused.

While we don’t have a way to shorten the cache time at the moment, we absolutely see the value in this improvement. Hopefully, we’ll be able to overcome this hindrance in the future, and I’ll make sure to update you here in case of any news :slightly_smiling_face:

A huge thank you for your feedback!

Hi! I also wanted to left a message regarding this issue. First of all thank you Max for all the effort you already put in this. I think everybody here appreciates your support.
Unfortunately, I need to say that I am also very unhappy with the 48 hours delay. If I had known this before, I propably would have chosen a different provider. We pay a lot of money for this (compared to the service given). The purpose of implementing a Social Feed on a Website is to receive up-to-date content. I Hope you find a solution soon, otherwise the tool doesn’t make sense to us. Sorry for being so direct!

Hi there, @user18086!

A huge thank you for your honest and constructive feedback!

We understand how crucial it is for your Social Feed to reflect the latest content, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience the 48-hour delay is causing. Unfortunately, some technical limitations are currently preventing us from reducing this cache period.

However, we’re actively exploring options, and I’ll make sure to keep you posted if there are any updates.

Thank you for your patience and for helping us improve :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi
Did i miss the info on this when i signed up?

I don’t remember reading it would take so long for posts to appear. Has there been any progress on speeding this up?

It might be a deal-breaker for our client.

Hey Max,

Loving the elfsight functionality as a new user, but stumbled on this issue with cache updates every 48 hours - any developments on enhancing this functionality since Sep24?

Thanks, Frank

Hello guys, @Frank_Howard, @Jo_Gretton

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

We’re really sorry about the lack of transparency around the cache time. We’ve just finished an article on this topic for the LinkedIn Feed, and it’s now live – you can check it out here: Why My LinkedIn Feed Doesn’t Update.

As for the feature progress, unfortunately, we don’t have any updates yet. But as soon as we hear from the dev team, we’ll be sure to update you right here :slightly_smiling_face:

As many people have already mentioned, it’s a very big problem that the LinkedIn feed doesn’t refresh more than every 48 hours. As nice as the other plugin features are, if I’d known about the delay, I’d probably not have used the plugin.

When will this issue be resolved? It ruins the point of a timely social feed if it’s 2 days old when it’s finally posted. We need this to be fixed! Please let us know when this might happen, thanks.

Thank you for your feedback, @Bonnie_Katz!

I totally understand your frustration, and I’m really sorry that we don’t currently have a solution for reducing the cache time.

The main challenge is that implementing this would come with a high cost, which could significantly raise the subscription price. Since the current cache time is not an issue for the majority of our users, we strive to keep our prices as affordable as possible.

We’re still searching for a decent solution, and we’ll be happy to update you here once we have any news.

Thanks a lot for your comment and for sharing your thoughts!

Hi, the 48h cache on linkedin feed is a pain in a really nice widget idea. i’m dev i understand the arguments but Linkedin (and other feeds) needs a more realtime approcach or are obsolets.

Reading this thread, answers, that reducing the cache delay is on non-negociating term lead me to consider using another solution for that. Sorry.

Thank you for your comment, @Florent_Marbot! Totally understand your reasons, and I’m really sorry we don’t have a solution at the moment.

We know that a lot of customers would benefit from reducing the cache, and the good news is that we’re actively considering possible solutions. We already have a rough implementation plan in place, and if everything goes as planned, we’ll move forward to the development stage. While it’s difficult to set an exact ETA, please know that this issue is under active consideration.

Thanks again for sharing your feedback! I really hope we’ll have more positive news to share with you soon :pray:t2:

I agree with the points made by other community members on this thread. The request was raised in September 2023, and not having a solution yet, or even an ETA, is a little frustrating.

Most social media aggregators refresh in real time based on the subscription plans offered, and I haven’t seen any that take more than 6 hours. I hope you can address this soon.

Regards,
Manish
