Navigate Pages Without Filling Required Fields

Hi Team!

I am using the Elfsight form builder to create a multipage form with required fields on each page. However, I am encountering an issue when editing the form.

Currently, I am unable to navigate to the next page while editing unless I fill in all the required fields. This makes reviewing and modifying the form difficult, as I have to manually disable the “required” setting for each field just to proceed. This process is quite inconvenient and time-consuming.

It would be extremely helpful if the form builder allowed users to navigate through pages without having to fill in all required fields first, similar to the functionality available in other form builders I’ve used. This feature would greatly improve the editing process and user experience.

Hi there and welcome to the Community, @user17478

You’d like to have this option only in the widget’s configurator, for the widget owner, right?

Hi Max,

Yes. that is correct!

Got you, thanks!

Sounds quite complicated, but if this idea gets more votes, we’ll try to think about it in the future :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello again, Max!

I appreciate your response! Forgive me if I wasn’t clear in my initial request, I don’t believe this should be too complicated to implement.

Just to clarify:

Currently, when building a multi-page form, the preview on the right always stays on the first page unless you manually navigate forward. However, if required fields exist on page 1, you must fill them in before you can move to the next page, making it very difficult to preview or edit later pages efficiently. The only workaround is to disable the required fields temporarily, which is time-consuming and impractical.

What would be ideal is if the preview automatically displayed the page you are actively editing instead of forcing users to navigate manually. This functionality is standard in many other form builders and greatly improves the user experience.

I believe it would be a valuable enhancement for all users working with multi-page forms.

Thanks again for your time!

Yeah, I got your idea, and agree that it would be really helpful when editing the widget in the configurator. Thanks for providing more details!

The thing is that we prioritize requests based on 2 main criteria: complexity and number of votes. At the moment, we have a lot of requests with the higher priority.

However, if more users upvote this idea, it might be prioritized sooner, but it’s hard to give any predictions at the moment.

If we receive any news from the dev team, we’ll update you here right away :slightly_smiling_face:

When editing my form, if I want to preview a specific page, I have to fill out the form from the start in order to get to that page. If i want to check conditional logic functionality, I have to do the same. It’s very time consuming and makes updating the form a longer process than it needs to be!

Hi @Lady_Walker welcome to Community

Is this a multi-step form? If so, could it be due to the required fields?

Hi @Lady_Walker, thanks a lot for your suggestion!

As Sina mentioned, the required fields are definitely the culprit here. But I agree, it would be much more convenient to navigate the form without having to fill anything out, and I hope we’ll consider this option in our future updates.

Thank you for your help!

Required fields also shouldn’t apply while in preview mode in the editor! It would be horribly time consuming to go through and turn them all off and then back on again to test the form.

I totally see your point, @Lady_Walker, and I’m really sorry the form doesn’t work the way expected. We’ll try our best to consider this request in our future updates, especially if more users support this idea :folded_hands:t2:

I’m trying to build my multi-page form. When I’m working on it and wanting to switch between different pages, I’m unable to move between the pages, until I fill out the required fields. It’s a little annoying and a bit time consuming as I’m building. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts!

I totally agree that it would be more convenient to have this option in the configurator. This idea is already on the Wishlist and I’ve added your comment there too.

If more users support the idea, it might be considered in the future updates :slightly_smiling_face:
