It would be good if for the customer there’d be a field where one can fill their e-mail address and get a notification when that item is back in stock. This could be together with a stock watcher algorithm, therefore it would be completely automated.

We’ll try to think about developing something along the lines in the future 
And do you use some other tool to help you notify your customers about the items which are back in stock?
