AI Chatbot: Enjoy new Launcher button styles + 2 more improvements

We’ve added 3 new styles for the AI Chatbot Launcher button :sparkles:

Now you can customize how the launcher looks and choose the format that works best for your website. The new options are available in the Placement & Layout section on the Settings tab:

What’s inside the update?

Text Button

A new text-based style is now available for the Launcher button. You can add a text label instead of using only an icon:

Agent Profile

Show your AI agent’s avatar directly in the Launcher button. If no avatar is set in the Agent Profile, the default AI Orb will be displayed instead:

Quick Input

With this style, visitors can type a message and add attachments right from the Launcher button without opening the chat window first:

We’ve also made a couple of additional improvements:

  • Added a new pulsation animation for the Launcher and Text Button styles.
  • Added the option to center the Launcher button on the page.

Folks, did you like the new styles? Share your thoughts in the comments — we’d love to hear from you

Great add! Unfortunately, it’s now causing your configurator to ignore our “Button Only” setting. See below. You’re welcome to test it at your end. Fix appreciated.

Keep up the great work. Thank you.

PS: If you’re looking for a widget QA inspector, let me know. My fees are reasonable. Test, test, test!

Hi there, @Petar_Dietrich :waving_hand:

Thanks for flagging this up!

I see the issue and I’ve shared this info with the devs. I’ll report back once it’s fixed :slightly_smiling_face:

Great update!

One point of clarification, though: this feels more like a new button style than the label next to the button that many of us were expecting. When we refer to a “label,” we mean a separate welcome message that appears before the chat is opened, not the message inside the chat window.

Because that feature isn’t available yet, we’re still forced to keep the welcome message very short so it doesn’t take up too much space on mobile devices. Many of us would like the ability to display a small simple popup such as “Need Help?” before the chat opens, while having a separate, more detailed welcome message inside the chat window that could be up to four sentences long.

Another limitation is that the same button style has to be used across all devices. The Quick Input button is a great addition, but on mobile it covers a significant portion of the bottom/footer of the screen. It works much better on desktop than on smaller displays.

It would be ideal if we could choose different button styles based on device type. For example, many users would likely prefer Button or Agent Profile on mobile, while using Text Button or Quick Input on desktop. Even with Greetings & Display some of us would like to display them on PC but not mobile for screen real estate.

Since you’re actively making major improvements to the AI Chatbot, I hope you’ll consider adding this level of customization in a future update. I think it would significantly improve the user experience across both desktop and mobile.

Extra:

Not a big issue but I was wondering if this dot next to Chatbot in configurator is on purpose.

I wanted to dive deeper on why it’s important to have the flexibility to customize the experience on a per-device basis.

Whether that’s enabling or disabling Greetings and Suggested Questions or even displaying different button types on desktop and mobile, rather than applying the same configuration across all devices.

Here’s a practical example of why this matters.

Desktop (PC)

Quick Input works very well on desktop. Visitors can immediately see the greeting and suggested questions, which encourages engagement. They can either click a suggestion or use it as inspiration to write their own message. The overall layout and user experience feel much stronger on larger screens.

PC:

On mobile, however, the experience feels less complete. Without the suggested questions, the interface can appear somewhat empty, and users may not immediately understand what they can ask or that they can interact without typing their own message.

Mobile:

If I had more control over the experience, I’d love the ability to rotate between different entry points using subtle animations, such as:

Button → Agent Profile → Text Button → Quick Input

This creates a more engaging experience by showcasing the different interaction methods while making it clear that users can simply tap a button to get started rather than feeling they need to think of something to type first.

Ideally, I’d like the flexibility to display all of these elements with the method I mentioned but If that’s not possible, being able to configure different combinations for desktop and mobile would be the next best solution, allowing each experience to be optimized for its respective device.

Hi @Petar_Dietrich!

Great news — the issue has been fixed :tada:

Hello there, @Adore :waving_hand:

Thanks so much for taking the time to share such a detailed breakdown!

I completely understand your point about having separate launcher styles for desktop and mobile, and I agree that this would be a useful improvement. I’ve added this idea to our Wishlist, feel free to upvote it here: Option to choose separate Launcher Button styles for mobile and desktop

You’ve mentioned that you’d like to set a short welcome message as a label and a longer welcome message inside the chat window. This is exactly how the Text button style works: you add a brief welcome message which is displayed inside the Launcher button:

A separate welcome message displayed in the chat window can be set in the Greeting field:

Just to clarify — would you still prefer the first message to appear in a separate bubble next to the Launcher button rather than as text inside the button?

If yes, could you share a bit more about why this works better for your use case? From our side, it seems that an additional bubble might take up even more space than the current Text Button option, so I’d love to understand whether it’s mainly a visual preference or if there’s another reason behind it.

Are you referring to the cropped dot on the right of the Launcher button or a notification badge (1)?

Yes, fixed. :raising_hands: Hurrah!

Hey @Max ,

I wanted to share an example of why I don’t think this option is the best approach. I’m also using an example with a custom icon to better illustrate my point.

Image 1:

In Image 1, you can see that the icon is large and prominent, allowing businesses to showcase their branding effectively. It is well-formatted and fits the launcher button perfectly. Another advantage is that the launcher button’s layout remains consistent. Once the user closes the “Need Help?” greeting, the launcher button stays true to its normal size without leaving an extended text button that takes up additional space or potentially overlaps other UI elements.

Image 1:

Image 2:

In Image 2, the icon is much smaller, positioned too close to the text, and doesn’t appear as polished or properly formatted. In addition, the text remains permanently visible instead of disappearing after the greeting is dismissed.

The purpose of a Greeting Display, in my opinion, is to create an immediate visual notification that catches the visitor’s attention. The “Need Help?” message briefly appears, giving the visitor two simple choices:

  • Click the greeting to open the chat.
  • Click the X to dismiss it.

After dismissing it, the launcher stays the same unlike “Text Button”

I’m not looking for an additional chat bubble. The request is actually very simple:

Greeting Display ≠ Welcome Message

These should be treated as two separate features.

This separation would allow much greater flexibility. For example, the Greeting Display could simply say “Need Help?”, while the Welcome Message inside the chat window could contain a longer introduction. This level of customization gives businesses more control over how visitors interact with the AI chatbot and allows them to create a much more intentional user experience.

Overall, I believe the Greeting Display shown in Image 1 feels much more natural, is easier to notice, and provides a cleaner experience than a permanently expanded text button, it just also looks very awkward as a button.

The new Text Button option is a nice addition when using the default launcher icons, since those icons are already designed to fit the layout. However, for users who upload custom icons to match their branding are punished using this option.

Prime Example: (Website Translator Overlapping AI Chatbot On Mobile)

Many users, including myself, have multiple website widgets, not just an AI chatbot. In the example, the website translator and AI chatbot both occupy the bottom of the screen.

This is a perfect example of why separate launcher behavior and ideally separate launcher styles depending on the device would be beneficial.

Also, Notice how the Greeting Display naturally appears above the chatbot launcher without permanently increasing its size. This avoids interfering with nearby widgets while still drawing the visitor’s attention.

If the launcher is permanently expanded into a text button instead, it consumes more horizontal space and increases the chances of overlapping or conflicting with other website widgets on mobile devices where screen space is limited.

This is another reason I believe the Greeting Display and Welcome Message should remain separate features. The Greeting Display acts as a temporary notification above the launcher, while the Welcome Message belongs inside the chat window. Keeping these experiences separate results in a cleaner interface, better compatibility with other website widgets, and more flexibility for businesses customizing their chatbot.

@Max

I hope this detailed explanation helps illustrate my perspective and is something you can share with the developers for consideration.

I also wanted to clarify one point regarding the example with the website translator. In the screenshot, the translator widget is centered, but on mobile devices the screen is much smaller. As soon as the AI chatbot uses the Text Button option, it significantly reduces the available space and can end up sitting too close to or even overlapping other website widgets.

To summarize, I think this feature could be much more flexible with a few additional customization options:

  • Use the Text Button on desktop only, while keeping the standard launcher button on mobile.
  • Use the Greeting Display for temporary messages like “Need Help?” instead of relying on a permanently expanded Text Button.
  • Separate the Greeting Display from the Welcome Message, allowing businesses to customize the message shown outside the chat independently from the message displayed inside the chat window.

Even if we ignore the Text Button option entirely, we’re still limited because the same Greeting Display content is used both outside the chat window and inside the chat. Having separate customization for each would provide a much better user experience.

One final clarification: when I mentioned the indicator, I was referring to the half-visible red dot, not the notification badge (1).

I’d really be interested to hear what the developers think. I believe this is an important UX topic that could significantly improve customization and make the chatbot integrate more naturally with websites that use multiple widgets.

Now I totally get what you mean, thank you so much for clarification!

I’ve shared your feedback with the dev team and, hopefully, they’ll be able to consider suggested improvements in the future.

Regarding the cropping red dot, could you please send me a link to the page where the affected widget is installed? I’ll be happy to take a look :slightly_smiling_face:
