I want a button that copys a code for the customer so they can use it at the checkout.

I agree that it would be awesome to have a Coupon field in the widget. We’ll try to consider this option in the future, especially if it gets more votes 
The good news is that you can use a Popup widget for this. The Coupon element that let users copy discount codes is available there. With the Top Bar layout, your popup will look exactly like the Announcement Bar widget:
