So I was thinking about a widget used for downloading desktop apps. In this widget, the user could select their target platform (OS, arch), the requested version, the packaging, etc.
The difference between this and the quiz/form widget is that in this widget, the download source (location of file, CDN, many more things) would be handled by Elfsight - this would solve another problem: developers needing to upload every binary to where their website is hosted, or needing to give “raw.githubusercontent...” links every time.

Hi there, @Andris ![]()
Thanks a lot for sharing this idea. I totally get the concept, and it makes sense from a developer’s point of view. Having users choose OS, architecture, and version in one place sounds amazing.
The main challenge is that handling file storage and CDN delivery on our side would go beyond what Elfsight widgets are built for. We focus on front-end website widgets, and hosting large binaries would require a completely different infrastructure model.
So, unfortunately we won’t be able to incorporate this idea. I am really sorry!
Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts with us! And if any more ideas come up, we’re always here to discuss them with you ![]()
