Issue description: Why does my widget note 17K (not about my site) when I just started?

Hi there, @Frances_Listou and welcome to the Community ![]()
Could you please clarufy what you mean under 17K? Are you referring to the views?
If so, I’ve just checked your account and see that you’ve used only 62 views out of 5000:
If I misunderstood you, please provide more details on your case. I’ll be happy to help!
Hi Max. Thanks for your reply so quickly.
I figured that issue out, but I have another one or two. ![]()
Under the navigation bar on the home page, a block shows a particle (lower half) of the Review widget. I cannot delete it. Is this something Elfsight can help me undo? I cannot delete it via Squarespace edit.
Also, when I added the widget, it covered the area where I wanted to place it because of a widget message above it. I hope I explained this correctly/clearly. Annoying, but I was still able to place it somewhere else.
My site is https://www.francesfineart.com/
Thank you!
Frances
Hi there, @Frances_Listou ![]()
Here is how it looks on my end:
Could you please send me a screenshot of what you see?
This is the information panel. It appears because you’re logged into your Elfsight account in the same browser where you’re viewing your site.
This means:
-
Only you can see it
-
Your website visitors will never see it
If you want to quickly confirm this, just open your website in an incognito/private window — the panel won’t be there.
If you’d still like to hide it, you can add this CSS to the Custom CSS section in your widget settings:
.global-styles, .eapps-widget-toolbar {
display: none !important;
}
You can also find more details here: Why I see a panel above my widget.
Once again, thank you, Max, for a quick reply.
I have been trying different approaches (most of today again) to delete the widget notice that keeps showing up on mobile and the PC. I removed the widget at the bottom of the home page, but it still shows under the navigation block. https://www.cloudhq.net/c/d48daf96400eea
Regarding the second issue, I know the panel above the widget would not show publicly. My issue was that it was in the way of placing the widget near another block. Thanks for giving me a way to remove that panel.![]()
BTW, the screenshot you sent shows my home page all distorted. That little midnight mouse junkie is upsetting me. Phew!
Thanks again for your help!
I will try that. Thanks for your help.
Currently I have 11" of snow to get to my studio and I’m still having my coffee. ![]()

Yep, I had added the code as well. I deleted that code. My goof is resolved! BUT…
I tried another widget, didn’t like it, went back to the first widget. But now it shows the 17+K views again. What am I missing? I know I have one review…my husband, of course!
Thank you so much for what you do, Max.
Enjoy life and art!
Frances
Hi there, @Frances_Listou ![]()
Just a quick note: a “view” is counted each time your widget loads on a page, and the number of views doesn’t depend on how many reviews are shown in the widget.
I noticed your website still has 2 Google Reviews widgets installed. The first one is the badge shown in the screenshot below:
The second widget is hidden in the header, but the installation code is still active:
Since both widgets’ installation codes are on the page, each time someone loads it, 2 views are counted for Google Reviews. We recommend removing the code for the widget you’re not using to avoid this.
You can learn more about how views are counted in this article - Why did my views run out so fast? - Elfsight Help Center
You also mentioned that you’ve used over 17,000 views, but your plan offers 5,000 views, and currently, only 203 views have been used:
Could you please send me a screenshot of your stats showing the 17,000 views used?
If you’re referring to the widget on a different website, please send me a link to the page, where it’s installed.
Hi Max again,
My site is again showing 17K reviews! This is getting annoying. Why can’t this be simple?! Please help again. Thank you.
Got what you mean, you’re talking about the number of reviews displayed.
I’ve checked your widget and see that you haven’t added your Google Business to the Source field:
If the Source field is empy, the widget will show reviews for the default source (Griffith Observatory), which is why you 17k reviews.
To display your own reviews, you need to set your Google location in the widget. This article explains how you can do this: How to Display Google Reviews with Elfsight Google Reviews Widget - Elfsight Help Center
Please check it out and let me know if it helped ![]()
Thanks again, Max. I did have difficulties finding the Elfsight help page or the info panel for the settings panel to add the address. I didn’t see it in the SS help. And there wasn’t an info panel above the review block. I have now pinned that to my site group.
Now the challenge is getting reviews other than my husband’s! ![]()

Hi there, @Frances_Listou ![]()
I’m glad to see you’ve successfully added your Google Business to the widget!
Just a small note: the link to this article is also available right in the widget configurator:
I’m sure you’ll be able to collect lots of great reviews from your happy customers. Best of luck with that, and please feel free to reach out if any questions come up. We’ll be delighted to help ![]()
