Where to find the template csv file to import events

Hey Max - I’m about to do my first CSV upload into a event calendar widget - I can’t find anywhere the template I should follow to create a CSV that will upload neatly. I need the calender users to be able to filter by tags/event types.

If there a template to make sure the CSV fits with the widget? Thanks!

Hi Vanessa

What I did was manually make 2 sample events and then download the csv. This showed me what it needed for the upload.

Hey there, friends :waving_hand:

@Chris_Rhodes, your workaround is great, thanks a lot for helping Vanessa!

I just wanted to let you know that the Template file can be downloaded right in the editor

Thanks for this - what format should the start date and time and end date and time be added to the cell in whatever spreadsheet tool we are using, before exporting to csv, thanks

Hi @Vanessa_Lovatt :waving_hand:

Here is a correct date and time format for your files:

Note: No need to specify the seconds in the time, hours and minutes would be enough :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks - this is proving tricky - it’s working in some lines when I format like that but not all

Please confirm:

Month/date/year hours:mins:seconds AM/PM

Am I missing anything?

would you recommend excel or googlesheets? any nuances between the two? I’m going in circles!

the example you have screen shot isn’t clear if it’s day of the month or the month first (in europe we put day of the month first) and 12:00 doesn’t make it clear if we should or shouldn’t use 24 hour clock?

the top line works, but the lower line doesn’t - even though I type it into the cell in exactly the same way, google sheets insists on correcting some cells and not others. Same in excel.

Can you confirm:

  • Is this MM/DD/YYYY (US format), not UK DD/MM/YYYY?

  • Does Elfsight require the AM / PM marker (not 24-hour time)?

  • Does Elfsight expect these values to be:

    • true date-time values, or

    • plain text strings that just look like dates?

Just can’t work out what’s invalid about these?

I’m sure I’m being daft, but any guidance on what’s wrong with the format would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there, @Vanessa_Lovatt :waving_hand:

Please let me consult with the devs. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have more news :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Vanessa_Lovatt :waving_hand:

There are 4 possible formats:

  • DD/MM/YY HH:MM or DD.MM.YY HH:MM (both without a.m/p.m for the time). Time without a.m/p.m must include a leading zero. For example - 02:00.

  • MM.DD.YY HH:MM AM/PM or MM/DD/YY HH:MM AM/PM. The time in these formats must be used without leading zeros - 2:00 AM.

Let me know if this explains things or if you have any questions left
