It looks like the AI chatbot has a notification for me, but it seems the interaction is the same when I open the chatbot with and without the notification.
What does that (1) mean, how does it get cleared, and are there ever (2) or (3) notifications waiting for me?
Hey @Loren_West ! Welcome to the community!
It seems like the “1” notification indicates that there is something new for you, but it may not always change the interaction you see when you open the chatbot. Here’s a bit more about it:
What does (1) mean?
The “(1)” usually indicates a new message or update that the AI chatbot is alerting you to. It could be a new interaction, message, or update from the system.
Not sure that’s accurate. See the attached image where I just opened the ai assistant from the chat bubble with notification. The notification badge is still present, yet the assistant is saying the main welcome message.
If there’s a new message or update, wouldn’t that message or update be shown?
Thank you for your message and for sharing the details!
It sounds like there might be a small issue with how the notifications are being displayed. Typically, when there’s a new message or update, the notification badge should disappear once the new content is shown in the AI assistant.
Since you’re still seeing the notification badge along with the welcome message, it could be a bug or a sync issue that’s preventing the update from showing properly. I would suggest:
Refreshing the page to see if that clears the notification.
Clearing the browser cache to make sure you’re seeing the most up-to-date content.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be helpful to reach out to Elfsight support directly for further troubleshooting. They can take a closer look at the widget settings and any potential bugs.
Right now, this red badge is just a part of the design that appears with the Welcome message. Once you send the 1st message to the chatbot, this badge will disappear.
If you’d like to completely hide it from the widget, please use this code in the Custom CSS field on the General tab of your widget’s settings:
Ahhhh that makes total sense. I’m using it in my development environment hosted on localhost, and I couldn’t figure out why I’m seeing it sometimes and it’s hidden other times.
My customers will see it once, then it’ll go away. Good design.
