Table widget to present data on website

I’m a user that was looking to buy elfsight and saw that tables have been requested for the past 3-4 years and still isn’t being considered? What can be done to make this an option? This is my number one need from you guys right now

Yes we’re still waiting and hopeful for this feature!

In the meantime, I developed a temporary stop-gap solution. Created an AI prompt file that generates html blocks that I then copy and paste into a category page html widget using BigCommerce page builder.

This is just a temporary method I will ditch once Elfsight releases their feature!

Live example here

Not ideal and requires I re-run the prompt file after pricing updates, but not time consuming just grunt work copy and paste. I have less than 20 category pages so takes about 30 minutes or so running each category in a different AI session concurrently. Main time is waiting for the AI to finish and then copy and paste into page builder.

No CSS mods required since uses basic html inline formatting.

I had an AI create my reusable prompt file - basic logic:

  • Scrap all product page urls found on the category page url provided by user.
  • Scrap each product url for Item # (sku), size or description, pack size and price.
  • In my case, sort products by size
  • Generate html table with product page links

I’ve added a few bells and whistles to have thumbnail show, and also product category guidance to split products into multiple tables based on features. Also adds the H2 and H3 titles tohelp with SEO and AI shopping agent discovery.

Key tip - after an update I ALWAYS have another AI platform use the same prompt file as just a reference to go review the new live category page and audit all the information by doing another scrap pass of the product urls. That prevents any AI hallucinations or drift.

Again not ideal work around, but I finally have a way to present table view of all the products on a BigCommerce page LOL.

Hopefully the elfsight development team will get us a permanent solution soon! One that dynamically pulls catalog product details on the fly so manual updating not required!

Hey there, @user35517, @Donald_Hill :waving_hand:

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts!

We completely understand your excitement about this app and I am really sorry about its delayed delivery.

We’d truly love to bring new apps and features out faster, but with so many requests coming in, we have to prioritize them carefully based on factors like complexity and community demand.

Even though this idea has received strong support from the Community, there are still a few requests with a higher priority at the moment, so our devs are currently focused on those.

However, we’d like to assure you that this idea has not been forgotten. I’ve passed your feedback on to the dev team, and we sincerely hope it can be prioritized sooner. As soon as there are any updates, we’ll make sure to share them here.

@Donald_Hill, thanks a ton for sharing your smart workaround. I’m sure it can be helpful for other users in the meantime while the Tables widget is not available yet

I’d love a table widget that lets us compare tiers and clearly showcase the differences in features between packages.

Hi there, @Whitney_Delaney :waving_hand:

Thank you for the feedback!

Our Pricing Table should be a perfect fit for this case. Please check it out and let us know if it works for your needs

For reference, here are couple of links to pages generated with AI prompts. But again, these use scrapped data from product pages so not a live feed. Have to remember to rerun the prompt and copy and past the updated pricing html block into page builder.

This table format allows me to drop an image in the first column for the style, then generates the remainder.

And to recap, the prompt works by me giving it Bigcommerce category page URL, then it goes out and scraps all the products attached to that page, compiles a list, sorts by size and style, then gives html table formatted output.

A huge thank you for sharing your examples with us, we really appreciate it!

While this solution works fine for you and the generated tables look nice, we agree that it would be much more convenient to build the via the widget.

Let’s hope the devs will take it under consideration down the line. If any news comes up, we’ll update you here right away :slightly_smiling_face:

We are building out a table of the upcoming fifa games we will be streaming at our bar and I was hoping to use a simple table widget to update. Surprised this doesn’t already exist.

Hi there, @Jamila_Conley :waving_hand:

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts with the Community!

We already have a request for the Table widget on the Wishlist. I’ve moved your comment to the related thread where we’ll keep you in the loop :slightly_smiling_face:
