good day max, was this actually done? Can i have my elfsight widget on my website automatically show the current live on youtube and then revert back to last live when my youtube is not live?
Hi there, @user25220 ![]()
Do I get it right that you’d like to show only the latest/current live stream and the usual videos shouldn’t appear in the widget?
hi max, i would like when youtube goes live, it appears on my site and when youtube is not live the widget shows the last live video.
The YouTube Gallery widget supports displaying live streams, but they won’t show up right after their launch because of the cache.
The widget is being updated every 24 hours and the new live stream will appear in the widget only after the widget is updated. Once the live stream is over, it will be displayed as the last recorded live stream.
Please let me know if this clears things up or if you have any questions left ![]()
ok, is this the cache on the clients device? if so, if the user is not caching it updates automatically when goes live?
therefore if i go live every 24 hours then the live should be shown automatically since the cache would have expired?
This is a cache system in the widget itself. Our widget uses a cache system to make everything load faster and reduce the server load.
Yep, the new live streams will show up in the widget automatically once the cache period expires:
okay, so how do i set this up because i have set it to the stream link on my live on youtube, but it does not appear to show when the youtube channel goes live? is there a specific setup or something i need to do for this? i checked the help file but only landed here…help appreciated…
The best option here is to add a link to a specific live video in the Source Groups, which you’ve already done. This lets the video appear in the widget as soon as it goes live. After the stream ends, the same video will remain there as a recorded video.
I can see that you added the link correctly. Since the stream has already ended, it’s now shown in the widget as a recorded video:
As for showing each new live stream automatically in place of the previous recorded video, that option isn’t available at the moment. To display a new live stream, the link to the previous video would need to be replaced manually.
I hope this makes things clearer.
