Squarespace has this feature, but allow the feed to display in portrait size mode, not square only.

I see that you’ve already customized the posts for your use case. Do I understand right that you’d like to have such an option in the layout settings?
Yes, having a layout size option directly in the settings would be much easier. I found the code I am using by accident.
