IP Address Block

It would be GREAT if there was an option to block your own IP address, that way of your own employees go to your website, it won’t affect the “views” every widget gets.

It would be great if we could exclude our internal company views/site visits by submitting our IP addresses, similar to how it works in Google Analytics and Hotjar.

As an additional option, it would be good to have something like e.g. testkey’s or tokens that we can use when connecting to Elfsight with the widgets. This will save the views when the widget’s are just getting tested

Sounds smart, thank you for sharing @Irene_Ob!

Just in case I’d love to mention that views do not get counted for you as an account owner, so could you please elaborate on possible scenarios when such a testkey could be used?

Many thanks for your help!

This is a must, especially for lower tier plans. Give the people a chance to not expire themselves, lol.

Hey there @Dan_Krulikoski

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We see how useful this option might be for our users, so we’ll try our best to consider it for the widget in future updates. I’ll keep you posted here :slightly_smiling_face:

As for the “chance to not expire themselves” you mean prevent counting your own views, am I right?

In this case, I am glad to tell you that you can do this. To do that, you need to make sure you’re logged in to your Elfsight account on the same device and browser that you use to work with your website.

Blocking your own IP address to prevent widget views while working on the website would be a fantastic and, I believe, very necessary feature. It would definitely be beneficial for all users, and I’m fully in favor of having this option added to the admin panel.

Hi there, @Info_Oxygenic :waving_hand:

Got you, thank you so much for the feedback!

Just in case, I’d like to note that your own views won’t be counted if you stay logged in to your Elfsight account when working :slightly_smiling_face:

I work on my site multiple times a day, and it’s not practical for me to remember to open Elfsight in a separate tab every time.

Could you please consider a more streamlined solution? Perhaps primary devices used to log in could be exempted by their device IDs or IP addresses. Given that there would only be a few such devices, it would be very helpful if Elfsight could automatically exempt the last three to five devices/IP addresses whenever it’s loaded. This would prevent inflated view counts without requiring manual intervention on our end.

Hi there, @Suchanda :waving_hand:

Thank you for the feedback!

We’ll try to think about the IP address block option in the future. Just wanted to clarify that you don’t need to keep the Elfsight dashboard tab open all the time.

Once you’ve logged into the dashboard in your browser, you can safely close the tab. Your session data stays stored in the browser, so your own visits won’t be counted in the stats :slightly_smiling_face:

We need to be able to block anyone by ip address where there is malicious use of the bot which wastes valuable visits on the plan.

Re: “Your session data stays stored in the browser”. Ok, for how long? Do we have to log in daily, or weekly, or…?
