Event Calendar: [MAJOR UPDATE] Enjoy optimized event browsing with new Pagination feature and more! 🔥

We’re thrilled to share a major release for our Event Calendar app that makes browsing events smoother and more efficient :rocket:

What’s inside the update?

Pagination instead of Load More button

We’ve completely removed the “Load More” button and added pagination for the List, Grid, and Masonry layouts.

Now, you’ll find page navigation buttons at the bottom, making it easier to switch between event pages:

Past Events display

If Past Events are enabled, the widget shows current events first and allows scrolling backward:

Filters and Pagination

Pagination works seamlessly even when filters are applied.

Event editing

When editing an event, pagination resets to the first page.

Direct event links

If the widget is opened via a link pointing to a specific event, it will automatically switch to the correct page and display that event.

Events Per Page

The Events Per Page setting now controls how many events appear per page, with separate values for mobile devices:

Number of events to show in Slider layout

You can now specify how many events to display in the Slider layout:

Pagination button width

The width of the pagination buttons adjusts based on the widest button, ensuring a clean and balanced look :sparkles:

Why This Matters?

This update significantly improves widget performance!

Now, only the events actually needed at the moment are loaded into the page code. This is especially important for widgets with a large number of events, where previously the entire list was loaded at once.

Guys, have you tested the new features? What’s your take on them? Share your experience in the comments - we’d love ot hear from you :wink:

Thanks for the update! Personally, I do prefer how all of the previous events where shown and the current events were displayed on top of them. This is because I can only post 1 event per week and now my events page looks rather empty and like I haven’t had much going on. Is there any option to keep the original layout?

Hi there, @mystaceous!

Oh, I completely understand your use case, and I am really sorry that the new Past Events layout doesn’t meet your needs :pensive_face:

Unfortunately, there is no way to switch the widget to the old view, but we have this idea on the Wishlist. Feel free to upvote it - Toggle for past events display: show under upcoming events or on Previous events page.

If this request gets more votes, we’ll try to consider it in the future updates :slightly_smiling_face:

Hiya, I preferred the old layout for my use. Having said that, if the past events could be reversed, so the latest past event is at the top, rather than the bottom, otherwise the client will need to scroll right to the bottom to see the most recent past event.

Hi @Darryl :waving_hand:

I am really sorry the new Past Events display didn’t suite case, but, unfortunately, it’s impossible to switch back to the previous version now :pensive_face:

If you’d like the old layout to be available again, please upvote this idea on the Wishlist.

We’ll keep tabs on this request and if it gets more votes, we’ll try to consider it in the future.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Hi @user1026

Add this code to the Custom CSS field on the Style tab of your Event Calendar widget’s settings:

This will hide the buttons.

.eapp-events-calendar-layout-pagination{
  display:none;
}

Same with my case: I have only 3-4 events per month, and my site looks very empty, when these events gone

Hello friends @user1026, @Victor_Golovko, @Darryl, @mystaceous :waving_hand:

Thanks a ton for sharing your thoughts with us!

We’ve discussed your feedback with the dev team and you’re right — we didn’t fully consider all the cases, and we’re really sorry about that!

While it’s impossible to disable pagination or switch back to the previous view right now, we’ll do our best to address this in the next update and take all your comments into account.

Thanks again for your input — we really appreciate it :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m in the same boat as others here - having the option to turn off pagination would help a ton. Or at the very least the flexibilty to default to showing recent past events if no upcoming events are yet posted.

Each week I generate new events to post, so in the lull between updating, my widget often shows nothing, which has the reverse effect of showcasing the vitality of our community - makes it look like things are dead!

A post was split to a new topic: Event Calendar: all my work is gone

Hey everyone!

Great news - past events are now displayed in a separate section, as it was before the update :tada:
