Can you do add an option “rel=nofollow” or “rel=sponsored” that could be applied to all outbounds links of a widget ?

**It would be nice to be able to select ‘nofollow’ (or even ‘sponsored’) for all outbound links ?**

Hi there, @Eric_NIEDERGANG 👋

Just to make sure we understand the use case correctly: would you like this attribute to be applied to all links generated by the Instagram Feed widget (for example, profile and post links), or only specific types of outbound links?

Also, is your main goal SEO control (`nofollow`) or marking promotional links (`sponsored`)?

Additionally, could you please share the name of the Instagram Feed widget where you’d like to implement it? I’ll be happy to check if we have a custom solution 🙂

No, sorry. This applies to all Elfsight widgets
It would be great if, for each widget, I could choose to add ‘nofollow’ or ‘sponsored’ to all outgoing links within that widget (Banner widget, for example).

Got it, thanks for clarification!

Unfortunately, there is no way to implement this idea now. However, if more users support this request, we’ll try to think it over in the future updates 🙂

If you cannot implement this to all the outbound links for a widget, you could add the options to each link of a widget
In the banner widget, you add the option “nofollow” to a text link. **BUT not on image links or banner links ? why ?**

These attributes cannot be added to banner or image links because they only work with links created using the native `<a>` tag. This is how text links are implemented, which is why they support the **nofollow** setting.

For image links, we use JavaScript to handle the link opening, so these `rel` attributes cannot be applied in the same way.

I hope this clears things up.

Anyway, I totally get your point and agree that it would be a nice enhancement. Let’s hope this idea gets more traction and the devs will be able to consider it 🙂

Yes, I understand
Sure, it would be a nice enhancement.
I hope the devs will be able to consider it because it is very important concerning SEO

Hi,
I’m reviving this discussion.
On a banner image, why can’t we add a rel=“nofollow” attribute, just like with target=“\_blank”?
That would be good for SEO. I have clients who ask me to add this to avoid penalties from Google.

Hello there, @Eric_NIEDERGANG 👋

As we’ve previously discussed, `rel=“nofollow”` attribute can be used with the text links only, which support `<a>`.

Banner images are opened via JavaScript, this is the reason why this attributes can be added now.

Let me know if this clears things up ot if you have further questions 🙂
