# Language Auto Detect

We are using the Elfsight AI Chatbot and would like to enable **Language Auto Detect**.

The chatbot should **automatically detect the visitor’s language from their first message** and **always respond in that same language**.

Currently, when a visitor types in English, the chatbot replies in Dutch, which is not desired.

We want the chatbot to **never default to a fixed language** , but instead dynamically detect and follow the visitor’s language for every response, unless the visitor explicitly asks for a translation.

This should be the default behavior of the widget, but sometimes language detection can have hiccups due to quirks in the instructions.

I see you’ve adjusted your instructions, and now the widget is working fine:
