The current cookie consent widget is just a notification, but it would be great to have it actual block cookies when declined, instead of having to use a third party plugin for this functionality.

Greetings @Pascale 👋

I am afraid, it’s quite a tall order at the moment. However, we understand that this functionality would bring much value to our app. Hope our devs will pay attention to this idea in our future updates. I’ll be posting here in case of any news 🙂

Thanks a lot for pointing us in this direction and welcome to Community!

Hi there and welcome to Elfsight family 👋

At the moment, we have a [Cookie Consent](https://elfsight.com/cookie-consent-widget/) app. However, it serves a function of notification and it actually doesn’t add, enable or disable cookies.

We already have a request for an app that actually disables cookies and I’ve moved your comment there too. I’ll keep you in the loop 🙂

A huge thank you for you input, it’s much appreciated!

Hello

I use tarteaucitron. io to manage cookies from all website i create to be RGPD compliant.

When a user refuse cookies, there no message that’s encourage user to accept them… just the place stay blank. When user refuse cookies from youtube for exemple, a message is displayed instead the video.

I think that’s interresting for all widget… is it possible ?

Thanks you 😄

Laut der **DSGVO (Datenschutz-Grundverordnung)** und der **TTDSG (Telekommunikation-Telemedien-Datenschutz-Gesetz)** in Deutschland reicht ein einfaches „Akzeptieren“ oder „Ablehnen“ nicht aus. Du musst die Cookies in Kategorien aufschlüsseln.

### **Erforderliche Elemente eines Cookie-Banners** :

1. **Kategorisierung der Cookies** :

- **Essentielle/technisch notwendige Cookies** (dürfen ohne Einwilligung gesetzt werden).
- **Funktionale Cookies** (z. B. für Komfortfunktionen wie Spracheinstellungen).
- **Analyse-/Tracking-Cookies** (z. B. Google Analytics).
- **Marketing-/Werbe-Cookies** (z. B. Retargeting durch Facebook Pixel).

According to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the TTDSG (Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act) in Germany, a simple “Accept” or “Reject” is not enough. You must break down the cookies into categories.

Required elements of a cookie banner:
Categorization of cookies:
Essential/technically necessary cookies (may be set without consent).
Functional cookies (e.g. for convenience functions such as language settings).
Analytics/tracking cookies (e.g. Google Analytics).
Marketing/advertising cookies (e.g. retargeting through Facebook Pixel).
Enable individual consent
Users must be able to consent individually for each category (except essential cookies).
A simple “Reject” option
It must be just as easy to reject all non-essential cookies as it is to accept them.
It would be nice if there was something like that for Germany… just accepting or rejecting is not enough here!

Thank you for your input, @Irene_Degel!

I understand your point and I’m really sorry that right now our widget doesn’t work the way you described. Although our Cookie Consent widget serves the function of notification only, I hope we’ll be able to consider this request in the future 🙂

I would like to request a cookie consent widget that complies with European data protection regulations, including the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules.

The widget should allow users to clearly accept, reject, or customize cookies before any non-essential cookies are loaded.

Ideally, it should include:

- Clear cookie categories, such as necessary, analytics, marketing, and third-party cookies.

- An option to reject all non-essential cookies.

- An option to change consent preferences later.

- Blocking of analytics and marketing scripts until consent is given.

- A consent log or proof of consent, if available.

- Compatibility with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, and other third-party scripts.

- Support for multilingual websites.

- A clean and customizable design.

Could you please let me know if your cookie consent widget supports full compliance with European data protection laws and whether it can prevent non-essential scripts from loading before user consent?

Thank you.

Welcome to the Community, @Jose_Merchan 👋

Our Cookie Consent widget serves a notification purpose only, which means it does not add, enable, or disable cookies. The responsibility for using cookies or any other analytics tools remains entirely with you as the site owner.

However, we agree that it would be great if the widget could actually block/accept cookies and we have this idea on the Wishlist. I’ve merged your comment with the existing request, where we’ll keep you updated 🙂
